theboyangel
Just woke from a dream in which we drew our game 1-1 but Spurs beat Leads 3-0... also Nakamba scored the opener as Luton won 2-0 against Coventry. Wouldn't mind the Nakamba but coming true...
Popular Post A'Villan
I love watching Aston Villa. Have done through some tough times and logged in to watch live more weeks than I missed throughout our time playing in the championship. I will relish the opportunity to watch us midweek against other teams from Europe. I will lose sleep over it, hopefully more from excitement than anguish, but either way I will. I think it's fair to say that calling to question what a European competition will mean for our side, or other sides who participate, is at the very least seeking better understanding of the game we love. I'm not subscribing to the idea it undermines anything at all.
Popular Post markavfc40
A Man Utd fan at work said to me yesterday for a club that likes to let you know it has won the biggest prize there is to win you lot are making a big deal out of potentially finishing 7th. Fans of other clubs wouldn't get why it matters to us I suppose as they haven't lived through or bothered to notice the last dozen years. The half dozen years circling the drain, relegated with just 17 points, hours away from administration just 5 years ago, from 14th in March to promotion via the play offs 4 years ago, then having dragged ourselves back up overcoming the last day escape from relegation 3 years ago. Tomorrow we could qualify for European football. At numerous points in our very recent past that prospect has seemed a million miles away and a pipe dream. To now be within touching distance is remarkable and as someone who has lived through seeing us win everything (except FA Cup) tomorrow matters and means just as much to me because of the lows we have sunk to and the journey back up to get us here. 20

Will Europe stop Grealish from going? Will we coup with Europe with the mess we went to with DS then SG?). Then we go back again to Whelan Penalty which he missed, somehow I was on that game, the game after that with caretaker, also went to Fulham then Brentford with a caretaker. I told some Villa friends that I shall come when we need a manager changing lol. Anyway, many critical things came, some losses became wins after that. Now we have a similar challenge, a clear opportunity to start writing history again, a moment for the sleeping giant to wake up, it’s the time to erase the myth that’s called (top 6). It’s the time to make everyone listen the roar. I didn’t want to write anything about that before the game, It’s really nervy, but just found myself writing.
Popular Post Steero113
F**king massive day tomorrow lads. So I've gone and drank half a bottle of Dead Mans Fingers and I plan on disappointing my wife later. Should bode well for the result tomorrow.
RichW
Always thought if Villa needed to win this game for Europe they would win but don’t think it’s going to be easy. Obviously helps that they’ve literally got nothing to play for and have been given a couple of days off before this but they are a really good side. Going for Villa 2-1 - will be nervy towards the end. Moreno going to be a big miss today.

Popular Post srsmithusa
I remember posters here saying 4 years ago, that it would be better if we lost, becuase we weren't ready for the premiership yet, another year in championship would let us solidify and get stronger. Since I live in the US and could rarely see championship matches, my reaction was "F off, a**holes" Now people are saying "better if we don't go to the low level Europe next year." I'm thinking the same thing as before. There is TV money, marketing sales, and fan bases to build that can never be recovered. Come on Villa, the higher we go the better at all times. None of this, "we're better to just stay lower" nonsense.

Villa87
Got concerns about Brentford. Never a better time to play city - especially at home. We just need to do the business.
AshVilla
I know its Man City but that team is weak by their standards. No Haaland, Rodri, KDB e.t.c. We have to win today. Edited May 28, 2023 by AshVilla

PieFacE Posted May 28, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted May 28, 2023 If Brentford manage to finish above both us and Spurs then fair play to them. Not worried about that scenario. Personally if we don't do the business today I couldn't really give a monkeys if either Spurs or Brentford finish above us.

I agree with this sentiment in general but if we are not going to make 7th place, I would rather it was Brentford than Spurs who got it. Got a lot of respect for how Brentford have settled in the premier league and a lot of stored up dislike of Spurs. Anyway, we need to beat Brighton and 7th is ours whatever, right? As you say, Spurs and Brentford are not really our concern this afternoon.

Anyone remember what ticket takeup was like back in the 2007-2010 years? I'd bloody love to go on a trip overseas to see the Villa competing in Europe no matter who we're playing or how early it is in the competition, but I'm imagining away tickets would be like rocking horse shit
