Match Thread: Villa v Everton

We need to fix our shape from corners it’s a joke. Other than that it’s been alright from us, still too slow moving the ball and when we pick the pace up we look dangerous.

Keeping the ball in this heat will do us favours, it’ll tire out the Everton players and we still have Buendia, Archer and Bailey to bring on.

This is the time to show our killer instinct.

Thanks captain hindsight. Up to that point, nothing was happening and in the main since they’ve played together - it’s not worked.

It clearly has worked.

We are so slow in possession. First time we play the ball quickly we get in behind the defence and play a ball across the face of goal that Coutinho narrowly misses. Also why is mcginn standing on the last defender instead of being a passing option.

First half, we were the better side, but we are really lacking the ability to create real chances. Ings had to work real hard to take his.

our defending is sketchy at best, we’ve been lucky with a flag and the fact everton are more impudent up front than a monk

im still clueless what our game plan is

Good enough half. Playing much better without wowing yet.

Concerned about set pieces, looks like it’s playing on their minds, very nervous.

All could do better but the 4-4-2 is working today, much more control and confidence, enough opportunities but execution just not quite there demonstrating a little unfamiliarity.

Lovely confident goal by Ings, and good to see Coutinho getting stuck in. Cash having a good game and Ramsey looks a likely lad today. Plenty still on the bench, another goal would settle nerves.

I don't think we're playing well at all, but fortunately, we look better than last week, and we're up against another relegation candidate.

Clearly the better team today, but against ~15 other teams in the league, we'd be **** playing like this, we're wide open at times.

Yeah that's still a major worry, and you can easily see how any team with major set piece threats turn us over.

This needs alot of work.

I'll tell you what though, I feel much better with Ming's in there with Carlos than Konsa.

We were decent at defending them previously but as someone else mentioned before two. We players in our defensive unit might have something to do with it.

Coutinho pretty invisible for the most part, McGinn terrible albeit played a nice ball for the goal

Not sure Coutinho has done anything wrong. Tracked back pretty well. It’s just so limiting when we don’t attack with any kind of urgency. This tactic of letting the opposing team get everyone back before we move forward needs to stop…

I think it’s staggering that anyone has referred to an error by Mings. Unless not being taller is an error. Judged to a completely different standard than anyone else. He’s been really good today.

We are so much better when he's fit and able to play. Team Abs reunited alongside Diego.
