  1. The injuries/suspension no doubt haven’t helped, nor did the fixture list at start. Like I said at beginning of season, even with the ins - we didn’t progress, it was plain to see we needed more even with what we got in. Only good thing about this season, is we are still up there with best of rest, even though they have prob progressed they have only really made up ground on us - as we all have said, big big summer ahead. Regardless of al that our home form is woeful, 2nd from bottom on form table at home (only Bristol lower - only Chelsea still to play away of top 3) - compared to 4th away (only the magical top 3 higher - and we could end up 3rd ahead of Arsenal with us both having 2 left). 8 at home and only 1 win - (that’s only 2 of top 3, still got city to play). We have Leicester/spam left as well as city at home, need to make them count. We got 37 points last season, only 19 so far. Liverpool had 23 currently 29, spurs 18 now on 25. 58 points is the max first place will get, same as last season. If we had treaded water at least we would have been 4th comfortably. I think 7th is the best we can hope for (with the way the remaining fixtures are), which all though not great is not the end of the world. Shame Laura B has only had 12 minutes at City, and with form of Park unlikely to get many more - may get a winners medal, but surely playing time is better at that age for progression
  2. Pretty much sums up our season try hard for a part of the game, give away stupid goals, the fact we have to play Daly in midfield shows were we need to invest - prob need 3 starters in the middle of the park for me. Weird changes, not sure what the need to get Corsie on was for, we needed to swap out the top two, not sure what Lehman has or hasn’t done to not get a sniff. Gap to top 3 is not this big (was a top 4 last year), squad depth is the biggest thing, they can swallow up injuries, Arsenal have shown they are beatable this season, the top 2 not so much so.
  3. Decent goal, one of the only times we have made our passes count in final third, good quick move. Grew into the game, gave it away a few times again to begin with and feared the worst - but keeping our shape well, kind of like the Daly in CM role - she is good at directing the team, gets stuck in and has a decent engine. Would love a second goal, Arsenal will Chuck everything at us in the second half (hope not a repeat of reverse fixture) we can catch them on break. A good chance here to get that elusive point or 3 against one of the top three. Goal seemed to give a few a boost
  4. Thought he was ok, was feeding off scraps - he had a nice little link up with Gordon, and got the ball a few times in the channel. Only really had a half a chance (defender got a good toe in). Weird that a team full of class players can’t adapt their game to suite those playing - played a normal England system for Kane but without Kane. Can see Toney getting most of the minutes on Tuesday, which is good for Villa but not for Ollies summer.
  5. To be fair the line up looked good, I don’t think they tactically out done us - just got a goal when they were on top and kept their shape really well and we were stupidly sloppy. We always had the better bench, and prob would have gambled on being able to make effective changes second half (just hopeful it was 0-0 and not behind) to get us a point or 3. Happy the VAR got to the right decisions, the lost would have been bad but not end of world, but the drama of it all would have been worse. break to get some players back/fitter and hit it hard for last leg
  6. Shame after yesterdays good result, all results today went the wrong way
  7. I’m normally one of his biggest critics, but didn’t think he was that bad today. Seemed to learn second half he can half turn into space, a bit wasteful sometimes but mainly when it’s slow, always better when we are playing it quick through him. But that bit when he lost it to kudos from a corner then busted a gut to recover - fair Play, was screaming at him, didn’t think he had that in him.
  8. We don’t move, we don’t cross, we take an age to make a pass that’s on 10 secs ago , so predictable. we need to get back to basics, big half time team talk, games far from gone
  9. Konsa taking a **** age to take free kick - that leads to goal, stupid football
  10. Hopefully a scrappy goal from Leon or a daly special drag us out of this, only way I see Everton scoring is if we gift it to them. dont mind Daly in midfield, she is good a directing them but it leaves us short up top as Dri likes to drift and get involved all over.
  11. Thing is Spurs and Utd are more likely to lose fixtures they are meant to win, and get the odd result they maybe shouldn’t - we have been (mostly) consistent at winning when we should, and getting something when maybe less favourites - footballs a funny old game, I’m fairly confident we will be losing our singing voices by the end of the season UTV
  12. I thought Women’s Investment was in the allowable deductions for FFP/PSR - but I don’t think it’s as easy as chucking X million at it, there has got to be a conservative effort not to balloon the fees etc in the women’s game (although feel it’s close to the first 1m transfer). We have proven we can recruit (DvD was a coup) or at least be competitive when recruiting - I just don’t know how big the pool is we are looking at. I get the feeling we don’t have the people concentrating on it - we know what we have with the men’s team, we need that in replication for the women’s. Maybe the seemingly move to more agents (or atleast outwardly being reported) will see this improve. I think this is what Carla was noting in the we need help from everywhere statements. A big team like one of the big 6 is a relatively easy sell for any player - we have to work a little harder at it. Hopefully we get this right, maybe we just didn’t think it would all progress as quickly as it has, the standard of WSL has grown massively. Big summer ahead, back Carla with not only money but back ground staff. oh and agree - let’s start getting the youngsters some minutes, a goal for mullet would do her the world of good.
  13. Said it weeks ago, is soo poor and even if he has an odd rare good day or pass he makes us so unbalanced and offers very little it’s unreal.
  14. We don’t play to his style, unlike Bailey - beginning of the season when he looked good, we broke quickly and into space, now teams sit back so there is no space to run into or onto the ball. Play him up with olly in a game that is a little more open and we will see results, unfortunately a victim or our success (in the way 80% of teams set up against us). I still think he has more to offer and will come good agai
  15. Too big a gap between mid and up top, Diaby played a lot in a right position - suppose the plan is stifle them, young Ajax team big big game for them, always going to have energy - so in that respect half a job done. We aren’t playing 2 of our biggest engines in SJM and Bouba. Can see them tiring and us pressing more then. All to make it a proper European night under the lights at VP next week
  16. Interesting post match interview, mentioned about needing ‘help’ multiple times and how could not recruit in Jan - I feel she stopped just shy of calling club out (can’t see where else she meant help from), normally is very much it’s on her, this felt a bit different. I said at start club hasn’t progressed and supported her - shame really, would be interesting to see if the reasoning behind that or whether there are outside factors which caused it. Can only presume it’s budget wise (wages). She called it right about the game, second half was better, still not much of a threat and Arsenal were wasteful/dropped down a gear - maybe should have used the ‘pride/passion’ talk before game not halftime. Plenty of games left, but as other have said we need some players back or we just are to thin on the ground. Totally get it’s not all about winning, but you only grow the women’s game if it’s made competitive, it maybe the successes of the national team have made expectations too high that some teams in WSL are still catching up and money is being spent elsewhere - but it doesn’t mean people can’t call it out if it’s as bad as our first half last night. There is a buzz about the women’s game (rightly so), and after the positives of last season maybe ‘some ‘ (me included) expected more and a chance to ride the wave.
  17. Prob (realistically) the best shot at getting to a final and having a chance to win something and we look like it’s our first game. I totally get the big 4 are 9/10 going to win, but the margin is not as big as people make out but you have zero chance without effort, you have to put that it no matter your skill set. oh and the Arsenal fans although loud are bloody annoying.
  18. My comment amount Lehman was aimed at being subbed, not your comment - I see no reason why salmon didn’t replace, why it was turned. Just about agree with rest of what you said, I would be happy for Ward to stay - but the club need to get behind her - a few ageing need replacing in what already is wafer thin. Today, yep could have taken a fighting lose, spirited draw - but it was poor.
  19. lol that last goal is our season in one clip…….
  20. Think lehmans been made a bit of a scapegoat there - Dali/Nobbs been less effective and most wasteful - putting turner on and moving mayling to RW is a weird decision. I can’t even remember either keeper making a save after 70mins, that’s says more than anything else. Injuries/suspensions aside, it’s not been anywhere near good enough
  21. 2 poor goals to concede, other than that not much in it - although it’s not been great football. Hansen looking our most dangerous, would say we miss Leon more than Daly at moment - her drive and attitude makes things happen. Plus our midfield is so unbalanced and out of form. Not a big fan of magill as focal point (granted don’t have many options) surely Salmon or Mullett would have been better. better final ball (as said above) and a bit more fight/passion and we can get something out of it (although why oh why are we so bad here, surely it’s time to reasses our home ground)
  22. I really like what I saw, thought he was good on the ball, had good awareness and fitted in seamlessly, for the most part. Yes he tired, yes he struggled when momentum swung to Luton - but that has happened to far more experienced players this season, and will continue to do so. No issues with taking him off, he probably planned for 5mins, hoped for 30 but got a good 65 mins run out - all positives. i saw enough to see he will be a good player for us, as I said in other thread would like to see him in the second striker/10 role youri played in - think will give us more there.
  23. Surely the noise is “we will have to sell to buy big” rather than “sell to be safe for PSR” 2 massively different statements, both on current financials and not what we could end up with, Prize money for 4th, ECL win and CL qualifiers all boost the coffers in many ways. same as jan, we moved on to bring in - which is prob (in my eyes) more to protect summer budgets, which we plan in - winter window is a chance to fix things, we didn’t need fixing. We don’t need a massive overhaul, 1 big deal would be nice buy not essential. We have done the rebuild - if we can find a gem of a DM or ST then awesome.
  24. Yes he has his limitations, but he has had to play a large part in our season last 2 & 1/2 months - I don’t think he has let us down at all, and if anything has been very consistent. Overall today I thought he was good. Nowhere near as worried now with him in the team than I was after the first few ECL group games.
