He's a god. Only took 85 set pieces for one to pay off😂

We have 5 goals this season from set pieces out of out 23 in the league. We are doing well from them

Interestingly we have conceded 10 from set pieces so not good the other way

Anyone notice that he constantly gives the instructions to anyone coming on and every time it looks like the player has zero interest in what he is saying. It was in one ear and out the other with Coutinho today.

I've heard he's actually really well liked among the players though.

everyone jumps on him if our set pieces aren't going well like its the only thing he does but it's clear that he's a valued member of the coaching staff and from what i've seen he's probably 3rd in command

That seems like more of a Coutinho thing to me.

Nah all the players in every team never look like they are paying attention when they are getting instructions when coming on.

I think its a footballer thing in general, they just want to get on the pitch and not have a quick read about set piece instructions

Fins rhe critism of him to be hilarious. I've never seen fans be so critical of a coach before, without there being some obvious thing they have done wrong. I truly believe all the critism of him has only startet because of his hair, because the fanbase has absolutely no idea what his role truly is and how he is doing

I was chuckling at this the other day when Moreno was coming on for his debut. Who to give the new Spanish lad the instructions - one of the half dozen Spanish coaches? Nah get the old Scottish bloke to do it.

I think he speaks some Spanish considering he worked with Mexico for a while

Not as random as the Japanese he also speaks :D

I think he’s an asset,  just like an easy target for the fans for some reason , maybe it’s the hair? Been here under 3 different managers now so must be doing something right.

Would be an obvious reason to keep him round the squad with the amount of Spanish speakers.

You would assume he has the default level of coaching badges making him a useful translator for the day to day, and brings with him added specialism for set pieces.

We're looking better from free kicks and corners than we have done in years, although the competition from those previous year's is none existent. Austin in for me.

Abba haven't wanted him back, so that's a negative

Done it myself. My main criticism at the start was under Smith was that every single throw in we got in the opposition  half took a week to take and invariably came to nothing and under Gerrard every free kick earned in the opposition half was pumped into the box from any angle.

I think it was deemed a set piece coach had far far too much influence on the team. Was it his fault. Fair enough, probably not.

They've already been briefed before they've warmed up. This is a refresher.
