Morgan Sanson

My impression of Sanson has been he's a jack of all trades and master of none. He can do most things really well but nothing about him really stands out and defines and demands his role as a starter in the team.

Hopefully he can use the next 5 months to kick on and show what he can do when given a consistent run.

Will have a remaining book value of about £6m in the summer. So hopefully he does well at Strasbourg and he can get a permanent move in the summer. Hopefully he will take the wage cut to move. Best of luck to him, clearly a talented player

Wouldn’t surprise me to see any promoted teams or bottom half teams make a move for him either, I think that’s our best hope with his wages

Under his previous managers, I can sympathise with Samson feeling aggrieved about not getting a chance. Especially under Gerrard, where I could easily believe he'd have his favourites lined up.

Emery has already said that he appreciates Sanson as a player but, with him being allowed to leave, I'm confident that we have a player more suited to Emery's plans lined up.

All the best Morgan, and a shame it didn't work out.

As stated many times he can have no complaints with Smith. Sanson got injured after breaking into the team (started 3/4 games) a couple of months after he joined. He missed the remaining 9 games of the season, all of preseason and the first 3 games of the following season. He then played EFL trophy 45 mins and then EFL Cup where he got injured again and Smith was gone.

Gerrard then favoured JJ Luiz and McGinn who never got injured basically. He also played Naka at CDM and never played Sanson or JJ there and had one disaster playing McGinn there.

Just saying. You don't get the most assists in Ligue 1 by being some mug. He was just very unlucky here to begin with, then had an idiot 'managing' him. By the time Emery comes in, his match fitness and probably confidence is shot.

‘Strasbourg's president Marc Keller said… "We were seduced by Morgan Sanson, not only for his qualities as a footballer but also for his willingness to join us and make his contribution’

Sanson said of the move: "... The Racing spirit suits me well: wet the jersey, never let go of anything. I like it!’

*moan*

It was the 'I like it!' that got me 🤣

"I have a revenge to take on what has happened in recent months. I am very determined and I want to regain the pleasure of playing football."

Recent months he had the chance to impress a new manager and didn't succeed....

I would want to take revenge on the months before Emery took charge... whatever the hell that means

And yet still Emery has let him go.

Emery has a plan.

His plan involves players with certain attributes.

Sanson doesn’t fit that plan.

Ings didn’t fit that plan.

Both got moved on.  Doesn’t make them bad players, just means we need something different.

I’m so happy that we have a manager that has a plan, and doesn’t say ‘course’

Clean slate under Emery but for whatever reason Emery decided not to play him.

I’d say it’s likely the same reason that he never established himself under either of the previous managers nor was he thrown in when Danks took over for two games.

He scored the goal against Stevenage, whoopdedo, the rest of his performance was largely average (although admittedly better than the majority of the rest) and he simply didn’t take his chance, if that was his chance.

We only see a fraction of what goes on, the 90 minutes of game time each week, there’s countless other hours of training and interaction that we don’t see, you have to assume the issue lies there if anywhere.

Performance was average 🤣 no idea what you expect from him. He's a neat and tidy, intelligent midfielder who tries to work dangerous attacking positions with intricate play. He's not gonna be skipping past two or three players at a time.
