If the blue-sky sale of GerrardBall rings true I think it'll suit Kesler down to the ground and we'll see him replacing Guilbert next season and he'll appear in the cups and (all and form being well). The season after he'll be hunting Matty Cash's squad position. His loan is going well and how often do we give 5 year deals to 18yr olds? We're confident as **** in this lad.

HalfTimePost
Look how far forward he is. He's so constantly in attacking positions for a RB. He's going to thrive when he's back here with the way it appears Gerrard wants us to play with the attacking width coming from the wingbacks.

Delphinho123
As much as our loans haven’t quite worked out, I think the only players that will make it anyway from the FA youth cup team are Ramsey, Carney and Kesler. I have high hopes for those 3. If Jacob Ramsey continues on his trajectory as well, that would be an incredible bit of work from the academy getting 3/4 youngsters in and around the first team. At the end of the day all of them might fade away in the long term, but I agree that those 3 are the standout. Recent additions of Feeney and Iroegbunam are outstanding as well. For what it's worth I think Ben Chrisene will also have a decent shot at a good career.

rodders0223
He's clearing excelling. Whilst the games are great and the most important thing for him atm the level isn't great. Might be time to shop him around to a few league 1 giants or Championship battlers.
HalfTimePost
With how our other loans are going I wouldn't get ahead of ourselves, leave him where he is till the summer, assess him in pre season and if he's not already worth a few minutes and cup games, then send him to the championship next year
villa4europe
Trust the process, the qualified experienced people we have put in place will do what's right How much has he played as a proper RB? Every clip I've seen of him at Swindon is in attack

TRO
It never ceases to amaze me at Villa, how so much emphasis is directed at offensive play, when appraising defenders. Their first priority is to defend.....and then add as many attributes as they can. The skill set required to defend, is far more important, than some folk, seem to consider. Defending amongst some Villa fans ( younger ones mainly) seems like a necessary evil, as opposed to an integral part of the game. Sure, we all like the eye candy.....but stopping the opposition from having their eye candy, is paramount too...and requires a creditable amount of skill. I think the game's changed, TRO. For central defenders, yes absolutely, still. But for full backs I'm not so sure that being able to defend is enough these days. A full back who can only stop the opposition, most of the time, is not going to have much of a career at the top level, in most cases. The full backs that we remember as the best ones, the successful ones are nearly all those who did the basics defensively, but were a major part of an attacking threat. The very best, as you say are good at both defence and attacking, but just being good at one or the other of those is rarely enough. So if we're looking t a young prospect in the FB position, their attacking game has to be as much a consideration as their defensive skills. The reason I guess it's changed is because tackling, in the old style/sense is much less part of the game and more of a risk of sendings off and bookings than it used to be. Positioning, concentration and stuff can be taught - it doesn't have to be a natural skill. Nowadays skill on the ball, pace, passing and crossing ability are pretty much key assets for full backs.
