Usual thing, protection from injury, we can't afford to put in danger our two most valuable assets, it happens at most clubs it's nothing new or untoward, and it's believed they have both played their last game for us, I do have a club contact this end with someone slightly ITK, and the word is that they have received bids for them both but have not reached what we have asked for (unknown of course) and Fulham are in the mix alongside yourselves as serious contenders, but we MUST get in replacements first, that's our priority.

All very fair but you must have been lining up replacements for the last 12 months or so......what’s happening?

I've suggested Bernadeschi before as someone I think would fit our team and potentially move to Villa but a few on here disagree with that suggestion.

Cuardrado has PL experience and is getting on, if it's a rebuild under Pirlo maybe he's available?

Other PL experience players are Danilo, Ramsey and Szczesny. Can't see any joining us.

Other than that, Pjaca? Rugani? Pellegrini?

Belotti plays for Torino, could be back in for him.

Edit, just seen it suggested on the last page

I think the transfer window activity will ramp up soon. We are building on the basis of the squad, not a rebuild. This is new territory and requires more long term planning, especially with targets. The fact that we’ve organised the back room and academy so quickly tells you how easily the chips fall into place.

Of course we have, but it all takes time, we don't make many mistakes with last minute buying like some clubs who panic buy, we have a tried and tested method, most of our new players are tracked and analysed for at least 12 months before we plunge in, and it works just fine.

That’s what I’m saying.....how long since the playoff final now when clear that Watkins and Benrahma (even Henry would be off).

Norwich haven’t had any problems finding players....don’t understand the hold up.

Norwich, by design, were happy to take the TV money and be relegated. They had their targets lined up for that reason. Different scenarios.

fwiw, I really can’t see us buying a RB like Aarons. Elmo will run down his contract, Guilbert is the man in possession and Kaine Hayden Kesler being groomed for the first team.

LB different issue, Taylor just not good enough and Targett needs a better back up than Hause.

Oh come on, whilst Brentford wanted to get promoted, they would definitely have lined up replacements for their better players should they not get promoted (as happened).

They are welcome to who they are signed, not very inspirational is it, and not my cup of tea, But what's the hurry, I think we like to go for the more unusual and unknown players, and keep everything under wraps, we are not in a desperate rush like some clubs just for the sake of getting bodies in, we have enough players to select from to keep us going to start with, As a Bee's supporter you learn to be patient and not panic, but leave the job to our specialists who seem to manage very well each year as proven with their excellent track record.

Much as I dislike Chelsea, have to say fair play for the business they've done so far in this window.

Quick, decisive, no quibbling, and they are looking a hell of a lot stronger for it.

Lampard's going to be under a lot of pressure, rightly or wrongly I think they will be expecting to challenge for the title, a slow start and he could lose his job, if he wasn't Frank Lampard he might have lost his job after last season.

That just means you’ll try and hold out for the 2nd deadline date of 16th October........

I can’t be done with that.....possibly for Benrahma but not for Watkins.
