I will genuinely be howling with laughter if we announce Rashica at 10.01 today

Any deals we get done today before 17.45pm then they will be eligible for Fulham on Monday Evening

Rather than for playing reasons, it was because Villatalk would be down for maintenance so no one could open up the thread again for a couple of hours. I can just imagine a few posters pacing in the house desperately thinking of the best fish pun they can

Or running around Walsall naked, apparently...

Barkley, let’s hope. He’s match fit too so we can throw him straight in there.

Think Chelsea don't have motivation to speed this deal up. Might as well hang-on to Barkley and RLC up to deadline day. Especially as Barkley is still in their 18 man squad.

Samatta has left the building - shooooooooooorely we are getting another forward in regardless that Traore can play up front etc repeat.

We can't play the season with Ollie & Keinan as the only options, that's just asking for trouble bordering on negligence

Yes it would be hard to believe they'd make the exact same mistake as last season, leaving us with only two specialist strikers to start the season

Barkley on so many levels is wanted. The added bonus will Barkley is that if Jack gets an injury we have out ready made replacement playmaker in Barkley

This. Especially as one of the specialist strikers isn't particularly known for his goal scoring, even if last night went some way to proving that he deserves a place in the squad for the other positives to his game.

And he’s quite injury prone let’s not forget. If Watkins breaks his ankle day after the window closes we would be in serious trouble.

Barkley I agree with. Rashica I don’t. He has had a great season at Werder and apparently they are not asking silly money for him. Yet he still hasn’t moved.

Hardly sounds like a player out of our league.

It's exciting that we are genuinely back in the league that commands the attention of these players.

FWIW, Rashica is rated top 50 worldwide for attacking wide players, while I have not seen him play for hours myself, he's clearly a player with ambition.

I checked his numbers and he was a Bundesliga leader in most of the key areas for attacking play, I don't think there'd be anyone outside of Bayern or Dortmund better.

Barkley, at his best, could cut it in any team in the world. At Everton he was honestly masterclass brilliant.

In my opinion, Chelsea spending 40 million each on two CM's in the winter before he arrived meant politics played a role in Barkley's position at the club.

Add Chelsea already having players like Fabregas and Kante at CM, and attacking players like Hazard, Willian and Pedro, meant opportunities would need to be grabbed when offered.

He still has ended up playing two thirds of Chelsea's fixtures. but now they have brought in more, Kovacic, Mount, Pulisic and Jorginho among others who will occupy starting roles.

Anyway, it would seem Chelsea might not  be able to fulfill Barkley's appetite for the game. If we are the beneficiaries of that, that's one of the world's finest midfielders on our team.

There's no question Barkley at his best is world class, unfortunately while I sit here dreaming of this one coming to be, I also highly doubt it will.

I don't have any foresight into Ancelotti's plans but surely Everton with what they're building and where they are hoping to get to, would be able to offer what Chelsea won't.

There's always Loftus-Cheek. Pretty confident he and Grealish were the only two players in the Villa or Chelsea sides from that NextGen Series encounter to ever make the PL.

I honestly believe they want Tammy, but know he won't consider an offer until January when it's clear he wont be playing much for Chelsea. We'll hopefully be beyond the relegation fight at that point too.

The release clause of Werder Bremen forward Milot Rashica excludes Bayern Munich and other Bundesliga clubs, according to a report by Weser-Kurier. Rashica can leave Werder Bremen for €38 million, but this only applies to interested clubs from England, Spain, Italy and France

Former Germany international Didi Hamann recently suggested that Bayern Munich should be looking at Rashica as a cheaper alternative to Manchester City winger Leroy Sane.

Apologies if that's old news.

I've been getting Martinez vibes off this deal too

Chelsea only paid 15 million or thereabouts for Barkley. I'd double their money to push this through, and that would probably still equate to value for money.

Edit: I know the reports are that the deal will be a loan, but if you don't mind me, I'm indulging some T-W-A-T dreaming over here.

I wouldn't be looking for another forward unless one falls into our lap as it were. We have two competent forwards and the back-up should be ready in 3 months. If we are that unlucky that Watkins and Davis get inured then Traore can do a job until wesley is back. Given where we are with our squad there are more important areas to fill like centre-mid - although ramsey is putting up a good shout for consideration for the matchday 18.
