People do realise they both took over the club at roughly the same stage in the season in pretty much identical scenarios Smith took over in October and got us promoted in his first (half) season. In comparison Bruce also took over in October and finished 13th or something. In his 2nd season Bruce failed again, and was sacked in his third season. Smith had players like McGinn, Tammy Abraham, Axel Tuanzebe, El Ghazi, Grealish The team Bruce inherited was so incredibly shit. I actually looked it up now. Truly horrendous squad.
