I think the logic for this sentence is that theft is committed with the hands, therefore removing them prevents future offences.

Just wondering, what is your take on crimes relying more on the mind, say, fraud?

Make them watch soap operas for 12 hours a day

Stormzy, his music is **** terrible. In fact grime, drill etc is an absolute disgrace.

This won't be an unpopular opinion on VT. It fits in well with the "anything that's popular is shit" vibe that this place has.

Demographic more than anything

For such a "big" artist I would say stormzy doesn't cross that many lines, plenty of people know who he is but his music isn't widespread, he's not done that much that creeps beyond radio 1, 1 xtra and capital

I don't know many indie kids that are listening to stormzy on the side

People disliking popular things isn't exclusive to this website or a new phenomenon, this is from a book i'm reading which is over 130 years old...

'and if it be true that the loveliest tune imaginable becomes vulgar and insupportable as soon as the public begins to hum it and the hurdy-gurdies make it their own, the work of art which does not remain indifferent to the spurious artists, which is not contested by fools, and which is not satisfied with awakening the enthusiasm of the few, by this very fact becomes profaned, trite, almost repulsive to the initiate.

This promiscuity in admiration, furthermore, was one of the greatest sources of regret in his life. Incomprehensible successes had forever spoiled for him many pictures and books once cherished and dear. Approved by the mob, they began to reveal imperceptible defects to him, and he rejected them, wondering meanwhile if his perceptions were not growing blunted.'

Yes 'Against Nature', or À Rebours, apparently it's also the 'yellow book' that Lord Henry gives Dorian Gray in The Picture of Dorian Gray.

Thought so. I read it a few years ago.

I very nearly gave it up as there are so many obscure references and words that I had to keep looking up, but thought I'd stick with it and not bother looking everything up, just get the main gist of what's going on.

Can't stand his voice first and foremost, then there's his lyrics, in which there's nothing clever or interesting, there's also no real skill to how he rhymes. UK rappers in general just sound embarrassing to me. Then you have the production, it's **** garbage, same drum patterns where the hi hats sound like sprinklers at a golf course, generic 808s, just awful.

This, from the Film Thread, is right . . .

[Spectre was] Absolutely dreadful I thought.

Apart from Casino Royale (possibly the best Bond ever) and Skyfall, Bond has been awful for 20 ish years

. . . and my Unpopular Opinion for today is that they should just stop making Bond films. Don't try to make them better, don't try to 'find a new Bond', just stop making them, and have some different ideas.

Problem is they always make money.

I don't mind Bond films in general, but they're very very tired.

Casino Royale gave them a genuine opportunity to take it in a different direction. And even though it was a blatant ripoff of the Bourne films, it **** worked.

But they've ditched it and gone back to the same old gadget filled garbage that the Brosnan ones suffered from by the end (Die Another Day was an abomination)
