I disagree has done well at various clubs. Plays good football too.

He has done okay, nothing amazing since his first job though to be honest.

Regardless of what happens, I don't think Bruce has done well enough to deserve another year at Villa.

If we'd gone up easily then yes, he may have deserved a chance, but at best we're going to get up by the luck of playoffs and with the time and money he's had that's not really acceptable.

I don’t think he has had that much money to be honest. Barring hogan the rest were relatively small fees and loans

So 'new manager bounce' is something that isn't down to the manager?  Sometimes your logic is truly mindblowing.

When a new a manager is appointed, everyone is on their toes again, irrespective of a manager's quality. A new perspective and approach, even if ultimately it's lacking, can still 'freshen things up' and have a positive effect in the short term.

With Östersund now plunged into chaos after their chairman being arrested for potential financial misdoings there might be a chance of Graham Potter moving in the summer.

Would be a very exciting name IMO

Thats incredibly depressing...

i think it's depressing that people that think that someone achieving their pre season target should be sacked. i'm glad you're not my boss...

WTAF.

Sorry but that's probably the worst thing I've ever read on here.

Just as a matter of interest how many extra points would he have needed to have got to move from not having done well enough, and the sack,  to having done well enough, and being retained ?

Can only assume a 100% record would have sufficed, considering he "may" have deserved a chance at staying on if "we'd gone up easily"

Ah but don't let stuff like factual information get in the way of an opinion!

True, done an incredible job with a poor squad and on a shoestring budget.

Wonder if the next Barcelona manager only got to buy 2 players for a combined 30 million, keeping the talent from the current squad, and finished 7th, it would be ok because "He hasn't had much money to spend".

The poor unnamed sod.

I don’t want Bruce in the prem simply because his ceiling IS the championship. We hired him because he apparently specialises in promotions. Once he has done his job we should look to get someone better in. The only reason to keep him is if there aren’t any better managers available at the time. It’s nothing personal and while he has been adequately decent he hasn’t exactly been utterly brilliant with us in his time here imo.

It was in reference to the ongoing misunderstanding that SB has spent a lot of money.

He has not, that is a fact.

He spent 'big' on one player.

There are a lot of things to reasonably debate about SB but to accuse him of having spent lots of money is not one of them.

Fair enough, and on that I can probably agree with you.

However I hate the insinuation that he has had to scrape around to work miracles with a horrendous base.

It is all relative. What was the "value" of the squad inherited vs. "How much was needed" to tweak and give it the ability to challenge at the top end.

That's all another debate which has already been done to death I guess.

Either way, whats the point of this thread right now.
