I encourage everyone to watch that Brentford match again, it's widely available online. It really wasn't anything special.

It seemed like we played really well in real time, but when you sit back and watch the game already knowing the result, you'll see we actually got schooled by Brentford on how to create real chances by playing incisive football in behind the defense instead of laboriously stroking the ball from wing to wing then putting in a tame, easily defended cross.

You’ll never convince me we weren’t excellent for long periods of that game, but I’ll arrive at the same conclusion as you regardless.

We have absolutely no plan for how to attack teams and actually create chances through anything other than random moments of brilliance from our star players. Hit the channels and look for the cross seems to be the closest thing to it, but it doesn’t suit us and it’s easy to defend against. Our players seem completely incapable of anticipating their teammates’ movement, so much so that we often have two players either occupying or running into the same space.

Once every leap year it all clicks and it looks great, but such performances are outliers, not in any way representative of Steve Bruce’s tenure as Villa manager.

We need someone who’s both interested in and capable of actually coaching our players. Steve Bruce is either not interested or not capable, probably a bit of both, and that’s why he has to go.

Agree with most of this chap, an I think he will be gone defo before the end of Oct.

Although I disagree with the manager choice. I think we would be pissing in the wind if we thought Dean Smith could manage a club like ours! He could probably coach the squad well, but he could far from handle the pressure a club like ours brings.

We’ll never know unless we give managers like him a chance. That’s why so many good English managers get overlooked. But foreign managers are worth the risk...apparently.

Just imagine what it wpuld be like to manage the club you really Love!

Just watched his post match interview with AVTV. At one point he said some of his players mustn't have been fit. FFS you picked em. I think he knows summat is going on behind the scenes, struggling to get his words out. Think he will deffo be gone in next few days.

So he won't get to 3000 pages then! :(

You might be right. His demeanour seemed different today, almost resigned to the fact he is a dead man walking. He also didn't mention anything about the next game/next few weeks or about how the new signing all fit in going forward. Might be telling if he knows he is a goner.

This has happened 3 or 4 times in 12 months. He admitted he should have "freshened it up" after Blues at home (we lost at Fulham) and after wolves (lost at home to qpr), and has said a couple of times that he'd scrutinise himself after the above errors and for picking someone who wasn't fit/fresh ( I assumed it was Terry or Snodgrass last year).

We're 6 games into the league and he's admitted he still hasn't learnt from his own mistakes.

He's a **** fraud stealing a living. He's criminally mismanaged the team this summer. Letting Elphick go before a replacement was secured was absolute insanity

Somehow hes got us into a position where we have 1 specialist recognised CB in the squad and a back 4 where 1 player is in his natural position. No wonder its a **** disaster. Yea you can go now Bruce as far as im concerned, almost 2 years later and we have just gone backwards.

Unacceptable start to the season, we'll see now if the new owners really mean business.

Never going up under him.  Should have been sacked either after the play-off final or as soon as the new owners came in.  Absolute madness to go into the campaign with, what, one recognised senior CB?  Get him gone.

He was never going to be sacked after the playoff final with all the financial trouble and uncertainty going on behind the scenes. If the new owners had have wanted their own man in charge it also would have happened then. He’ll get another couple of games before any chance occurs, and of course that will be dependant on results.

He, and more importantly, we need wins. We are already having to make up a gap on the top teams.

Yes, if he thinks Jedinak is a suitable full time replacement as centre back then he has deffo lost his marbles. Not a massive fan of Elphick but at least he was a centre back.

How long has this guy been in management? The majority of that in this division? I must of heard him say I made this mistake, I made that mistake, I should have known, etc. 10 times since his been here. He gets it wrong far too many times for a supposed championship specialist. Unbelievable he was once in the running for the England job. Well not that unbelievable actually considering the way the FA operate. Needs to accept defeat. Has achieved the bare minimal since being here, and now, unfortunately its clear as day we are not progressing in the slightest on the pitch.

Sack him now. And give new guy a 2 week chance to work with this team. Maybe we should have gone for Henry he can't have been this patehtic

Depends what Henry's plan would of been, to be honest I can't see anything better in Henry too what Bruce is doing, could of been an experiment gone horribly wrong. We need someone who's experience, that can do the business and bring some good, enjoying attacking football to villa.

A manager that most of all can do what Bruce has by bringing players together, but most of all get these players saying how they should be and at there full potential.

That is the biggest problem and question to ask, why are our players just not playing to there full potential and why are they havimg such difficult times pulling results out??

Can't blame it all on Steve but he does own a fair share of this, maybe it is coaching staff, maybe we need to evaluate everyone who are around the players and in charge of making them better, someone or more isn't doing there job properly.

Could bringing in new extra coaches work, coaches who can install some swift attacking football and sort our defence in the meantime??
