Same, he's almost never been shit. I remember him misplacing a few passes in games but generally he's been an absolute monster.

Yep. I'd say that Sheff Utd game was his only really bad game, and he was playing CB.

And I think the only reason he's ranked behind the players bobzy listed is because he hasn't played as much because of injury. If he'd played a whole season at this level he'd be in our top 4 or 5 players.

Doing him too much courtesy there.  He's been shit and solid in equal measures and certainly not "one of our better players".  Snodgrass, Grealish, Grabban, Adomah, Chester and Hutton ahead of him.

..I’d add Terry, Johnstone and probably Hourihane to that list. When Jedi has played well, he’s played a blinder. But when he’s not performing he quickly and obviously becomes the weak link in the team.

The words 'weak' and 'Jedi' should never be used in the same sentence, unless you are looking for a Spartan kick down a deep hole.

Nope - he's just not that brilliant in terms of doing really basic things (retaining possession, carrying the ball etc.) that well.  What he's great at is stopping the opposition and dominating in the air; and it's worked fantastically against the better sides we've played against recently (Wolves, Cardiff and Boro in playoffs stand out) but he hasn't been as key to a successful season as all the players I previously mentioned.  I'd agree that if he had played an entire season as he has done recently, he'd be right up there.  Unfortunately, he simply hasn't done this - and he hasn't only played in 4 or 5 games.

I'd be disappointed if Jedinak is our first choice DMC next season, irrespective of which league we are in.

The guy has to start. Help deal with Mitrovic for starters but he's by far the best defensive midfielder we have. If we go a couple behind then I'd be bringing on Thor for more box to box legs in midfield, but.... Jedi always performs in the big games, I don't think playing at Wembley will phase him one bit.

If we're in the Championship then he probably will be if he still has the legs.

He's comfortably the best DM at the club.

I'd agree with that - which is why DM is a problem for us.

WHEN Aston Villa take on Fulham on Sunday in the Championship playoff final, they’ll have the chance to complete a return to the Premier League and earn a $AUD282m pay day.

And according to one Villa star, the words of Australian midfielder Mile Jedinak after a crucial semi-final win are incredibly important to the team’s chances of victory.

Shot stopper and Manchester United loanee Sam Johnstone has revealed that following a 0-0 home draw with Middlesbrough that secured passage to the final, Jedinak stood up in the dressing room and addressed his teammates.

The Socceroos captain boomed: “We’ve done nothing yet – let’s make this count in the final.”

Johnstone went on to praise the bearded enforcer, adding that his goal in the first leg ultimately earned their place in the decider.

“He’s been fantastic for us all season,” Johnstone told Aston Villa’s official website.

“But we’ve had a great squad who have all played their part in getting us to Wembley.

“We’ve had players coming in and out of the team, some playing out of position for the good of the team.

“The whole squad has been used and everyone has done well. That’s why we are where we are.

“But on Saturday and Tuesday, Mile was massive, simple as that – and he got the goal that got us through ultimately.”

Jedinak is expected to start in the heart of midfield for Villa as they take on Fulham on Sunday morning (AEST), with a gigantic $AUD282m on offer for the winner, as well as a berth in the top flight.

The Aussie midfielder has made 27 appearances thus far this season, and contributed two goals – including his strike in the semi-final. His experience could prove vital in the decider, with the 33-year-old having tasted victory in this particular fixture before.

In 2013, Jedinak captained Crystal Palace to a famous 1-0 extra time victory over Watford to win through to the Premier League, and five years later he’ll endeavour to bring the same joy to his new side.

Steve Bruce’s side finished fourth at the end of the regular season while the Cottagers concluded their campaign five points ahead in third.

Slavisa Jokanovic’s team largely rely on the goal scoring prowess of young gun Ryan Sessegnon, whose exploits this season have reportedly tempted the likes of Manchester United, Spurs and PSG into a move for his services.

Note: Added "AEST" and "AUD" to make it a little clearer.

Have to say his age caught up with him today. The younger fulham players were embarassing him at times. For me he should en3 backup next year. Can't be a main starter at 34

If it's him and whelan next year we wont have any hope in hell

He was OK, but look, we need to play the kind of football where you don't need such a one trick defensive specialist. Wolves' and Fulham's holding players can do so much more with the ball. We need someone similar in there. That coupled with his age and wages means that it's a no brainer for us to get rid of him. He's had a good season, but in someways represents why we are still languishing at this level in the state that we are in.

3yrs sadly

Aston Villa is delighted to announce the signing of Mile Jedinak.

The influential Australia national team captain arrives for an undisclosed fee on a three-year deal from Crystal Palace, where he spent five years.

Needs to go imo he is one of our highest earners and his ability vs wages no way stack up given our new finacial reality. Easily replaceable. Great pro but limited footballer.

Shame with all the injuries over the last couple of years and glad we've seen him atone for some horrendous errors with some decent performances. Much as I like him it's hardly the end of the world if he went. He still has the physical attributes to do well in a slower paced league. If anyone wants to offer money for him we should bite their arm off at this stage.

Having said that if he gets through the world cup and quits international football and comes back ready for one last hurrah he'd be a handy squad member. We'd have to sell Whelan though imo. Far too similar.

For me VM and I have sung his praises no end, its time for us to move on and sign CBs that can win aerial ball on their own, like Laursen....its is obvious Jed was there to defend our centre...understandable, but players have to stand on their own. John has moved on , time for a rethink, someone like sean Morrison.

We can't afford that luxury, because it is denying us players with movement in the middle.

If finances are a major issue, then of course we need to evaluate whether players are worth the financial outlay. Jedinak is in his mid-thrirties, and as I understand it on a big wage.

I love the guy to bits, and I would like him to still be here next season if possible, but I don't think it would be beyond understanding if we had to move him, Whelan or both, on next season.
