I've renewed.

Villa Park capacity will be the same next year as this year other than the lower North reduction for the new disabled area. Upper Trinity is only closed when there is no demand it can and will be opened when the demand is there. It we are top of the table and flying I would expect it to be opened fairly often. They just can't have season ticket holders up there or they would HAVE to open it and incurr costs regardless.

Nothing to renew, as I live in wales (involuntarily). But F*ck me, if we do what Tony envisages then I shall be making the journey, plus the kids will be old enough to be indoctrinated.

I did that 14 years go with my son....i'm not sure he has forgiven me just yet:)

Did that come from the ticket office mate?

No but they're not going to turn down paying punters if we have empty seats. It's a voluntary closure not a statutory closure so our capacity will be the same,  just not all utilised for every game.

If we are top of the table and flying the fans will come.

But they have laid off catering staff stewarding etc for next season so if the upper trinity is to be opened then they would have to rehire again.  Even with reduced capacity we could still have last season's average attendance at Villa Park with room to spare, and that was in the Premier League.

Can I just check if this is a cry for help? Should we be raising funds to pay a ransom, or sending a swat team round?

Browsing H&V I notice that some have said that the back of the  lower north will not be converted to disabled seating this season? Which is interesting.

Yeah I saw someone post a photo of their letter on Twitter. I think it said that because of the takeover, the change of disabled seating is being delayed until the 17/18 season.

you dont refurb something you're about to knock down...

You mean you think the often mentioned but never actioned, North Stand redevelopment may actually happen? They could reallocate all ST holders to the upper trinity for 17/18 season then lol.

Birmingham Mail say we have sold over 14,000 season tickets:

REVEALED: This is how many season tickets Aston Villa have sold

Figure released on how many fans have pledged their support for the Championship campaign

Aston Villa fans against Newcastle - protests and a party

Aston Villa fans have not been put off by the drop down into the Championship as season ticket sales continue to rise.

Over 14,000 supporters have signed up for the entire campaign, giving boss Roberto Di Matteo a boost ahead of next season.

The Italian is looking forward to experiencing Villa Park from the home dugout for the first time and has backed the Villa faithful for their dedication.

“We know this club has a huge fanbase and I will do everything in my power to please them.

”Supporters are looking forward to seeing how new owner Tony Xia can transform the fortunes of the club.

And the changing of hands at the very top has helped many fans sign up for the new season.

New chief executive, Keith Wyness said:“Already the season tickets are doing well. We forecast 14,000 this year and we’re already at that.

“We’re pushing on already. But we all know there’s nothing like three wins to get us moving.”

Wyness, the former Everton and Aberdeen CEO, admitted that he wants to repair the disconnect between the club and the fans.

He said: “It’s crucial, but it’s about deeds not words. “Every club has heard a new chairman coming in and promising the world and delivering an atlas!

“We have to do it right and we need it as quickly as possible.”

How does it compare with previous years?

Not entirely sure but last year we ended up with roughly 18,000 2014/15 (according to only article I can find which was referencing the numbers for the FA Cup final) but I think it was slightly more last season.

It would be more interesting but probably much harder to quantify how many of last season's ticket holders were still regular attendees at the end of the season.  I think there were probably quite a lot of renewals going into 15/16.  Remember we had just witnessed a quite remarkable escape and spent about ~£40-£50m gross in the transfer market so there were supposed to be plenty of reasons to be optimistic.  Funny how it worked out.
