The 2016 Takeover Thread

It was more the fact that a thread about a football club takeover ends up about slavery via Qatar and China, but sure... what about the other two I mentioned or are you happy only picking what's convenient?

Other than your post today (and now mine, I guess):

A search for the word 'laundering' in this thread returns results from May 21st and before.

A search for the word 'dictatorship' in this thread returns two results in the past couple of pages - Limpid's post and your one disagreeing with him (the criticism of ' a bit much and not factually accurate' suggests something other than 'ridiculously hyperbolic'). The older posts are part of exchanges from May 20th and one post from earlier.

On the back of that, I'm not really conveninced about the strength of your accusation.

That's very odd...

Not really, some outlets will only go by the official word. Villa haven't announced it yet, so they aren't going to say it's confirmed before they announce it or at least a general press release. Pat Murphy seems to be getting the scoop first and the other reports yesterday were just going from Xia's weibo post.

Now let's get down to the real business of sorting out the issues on the field.

Am I the only one that thinks it strange that the BBC keep breaking news for us and not the OS?

Not when the OS is still under the control of Learner's regime.

Makes sense that DrX would want to build a good relationship with the BBC.

Aston Villa fans have today been greeted with the news that Tony Xia's deal for ownership of the club has all but been confirmed.

Having passed the Football League's fit and proper test, all that now remains is for the club to confirm the deal.

Hopefully the new owner will spend more time at the club watching games than Randy Lerner did.

To help him out we have translated a few examples of the local lingo to help him out.

Paul McGrath my lord - 保罗·麦格拉斯我的上帝,保罗·麦格拉斯,主啊,保罗·麦格拉斯

Holte Enders in the sky - 霍尔特·恩德斯在天空

My old man said be a city fan - 我老汉说是一个城市的风扇....

Have you won the European Cup? - 你赢得了欧洲冠军杯?

Where do we keep the chocolate biscuits? - 我们在哪里保持巧克力饼干

I'm confiscating Paddy Riley's Xbox - 我没收帕迪·莱利的Xbox

Stanley Victor, move away from Twitter - 斯坦利维克多,从Twitter搬走

Joleon did what with his back pocket? - 埃弗顿做了什么,他后面的口袋?

I'm looking forward to meeting our two best players - Hercules and Bella - 我期待着见到我们两个最好的球员 - 大力神和贝拉

Can we not knock it? - 能不敲它?

Very interesting one, but I must say I understand none of them. Can someone help me understand those ' local lingo ' please?

O/S will only announce things when they're 100% done.

BBC and Papers happy to put these stories when they're 99.9% done.

Bit like how the Garde and RDM stories broke.

Whereas Sky Sources will announce things when they find a message in a Chinese cookie.

You are not missing out on a lot by not understanding. The top few on the list are songs/chants that the crowd will sing at a game, and the lower half of the list are basically the local news outlet making jokes at our disasterous last few seasons.

I must admit, that i have no idea what the chocolate biscuits thing is about? That has gone over my head, I must have missed that one. Anyone else know?

There was a report in the press about cost cutting measures that had been employed at the club, reduction in stewards, staff made up of kids, etc.

One of the measures supposedly taken was that the corporate allocation no longer received their half time chocolate digestives.

Cue a lot of "this takes the biscuit" style remarks....

Very interesting bit. Whom we thought was the villain, the dark man, turned out to be the man behind the takeover after all.

We can only judge him on what he does for us....He has presumably passed the required tests.

We have all got excited about certain folk who have come to our club and been let down badly......Chris Samuelson might be a positive twist of fate ( that we have all been waiting for)and turn out to be the opposite of what many have said .....we can only wait and see.

I don't see Tony X building the empire he has on ill judgment, quite the contrary (so if he's comfortable with Samuelson so should we be)....Its this aspect of the takeover I am more upbeat about, however the money does come in handy and gives us the fluidity to trade and possibly buy the bits for the jigshaw that RDM wants....as opposed to buying individuals because they are available and to to make money on with little/secondary consideration for where they fit in to a team pattern.

VT 's record on directors isn't great

Fox was hailed as one hell of coup - and just sat on his backside and pocketed a huge salary.

Hollis - was derided on here - yet he seems to have got the sale done.

Samuelson - looks like he found us Dr Xia  I can almost hear "This is a steal at £75m" - which with a bit of TLC it is ......

Yep that's a key difference between Randy and Tony.  One is self-made and therefore capable.  The other, because he inherited, will always have question marks over his abilities if not his character.  On the basis that Dr. X has seemingly passed the F&P test we can now rest a little more easily that he is what he says, in which case he's one significant step closer to being that capable owner that we need.  And by capable I also mean the ability to acknowledge one's own shortcomings and hire the right help.  From what we've seen, he tends to succeed in what he does, so he must go about things in the right way.  Hopefully we're the next successful project :)

The appointment of Wyness gives me hope. What Tony doesn't know - he has recruited to plug that gap. Something Randy never did.
