Be interesting to see which Tory in his 50s stays away from parliament.

You can bet that if you’re a male Tory MP in your 50s, you’re 100% going to be at the next PMQ to show it’s not you that’s been asked to stay away. I’m guessing it should be fairly easy to work it out (not that we don’t already have a fairly good hunch).

A Conservative MP has been arrested on suspicion of rape and sexual assault offences spanning a seven-year period.

The BBC's online breaking news service initially reported this as "UK MP".

The leash must be very, very tight at Broadcasting House.

Been doing a bit of reading up about "pathocracy". Seems relevant.

Quote

According to Lobaczewski, the transition to pathocracy begins when a disordered individual emerges as a leader figure. While some members of the ruling class are appalled by the brutality and irresponsibility of the leader and his acolytes, his disordered personality appeals to some psychologically normal individuals. They find him charismatic. His impulsiveness is mistaken for decisiveness; his narcissism for confidence; his recklessness for fearlessness.

Soon other people with psychopathic traits emerge and attach themselves to the pathocracy, sensing the opportunity to gain power and influence. At the same time, responsible and moral people gradually leave the government, either resigning or being ruthlessly ejected. In an inevitable process, soon the entire government is filled with people with a pathological lack of empathy and conscience. It has been infiltrated by members of the minority of people with personality disorders, who assume power over the majority of psychologically normal people.

Soon the pathology of the government spreads amongst the general population. As Lobaczewski wrote, ‘If an individual in a position of political power is a psychopath, he or she can create an epidemic of psychopathology in people who are not, essentially, psychopathic’ (2006, p.25). The pathocratic government presents a compelling simplistic ideology, promoting notions of future greatness, with a need to defeat or eliminate alleged enemies who stand in the way of this great future. The government uses propaganda to stoke hatred towards enemies, and to create a cult of personality around the leader.

Indeed.

To completely change the subject, there are a lot of by-elections coming up. Wakefield and Tiverton both scheduled for the same day, the anniversary of the EU referendum, June 23rd.

However, Romford definitely isn't having a by-election on that date.

In just the last few weeks we have had a Tory MP convicted of sexually assaulting a child, a Tory MP suspended for sexual harassment and drug abuse, a Tory MP caught watching porn in HOC and now a Tory MP accused of rape. On top of the PM and Chancellor being found to have broken the law.

Words fail me.

You forgot the Tory Peer under investigation for a £200mil fraud on the public purse, who also happens to be under investigation separately for sending a racially aggravated malicious communication (text message) to an Indian man after a yachting accident in which one person died.

I’m pretty sure they’ve just kicked off crime week too.

I have realised they’re doing something which we all probably do at work from time to time, create some issues so we can bask in the glory of them being closed off. This is what the Tories are up to. In a few months time they’ll talk about how crime has dropped, because they will have stopped personally boosting the numbers.

Labour would have committed 3.5trillion in fraud - and paid the EU 9.5mazillion. We took back control for this reason.

Just looked this guy up. He really is an uber-throbber. If you were trying to invent a clichéd parody right wing Tory, he would be the perfect blueprint.

Tiverton could be a Lib Dem target
