President of Marseille spouting off about how Gueye will use a "small club like us" as a stepping stone to get a move to a bigger club. Clearly wasnt watching the live stream last night.

Ha ha. So instead of playing at a massive club like marseille straight away, he's chosen the scenic route to slum it with us for a while.

Obvious, really.

It's what you expect, these clubs must be full of envy when they finish in the top 4 of their respective league...their players would sooner leave to play in a team that finishes int he bottom 4 in the premier league.

Guess that's the downside of them being in a non entity league that most people wouldn't even know where to start if they wanted to watch them on telly.

P.S.. Shropshire lad - the pub in Telford?

He meant to play for a bigger club in England. Doesn't surprise me. Most do.

Marseille are a bigger club than us, but he wanted to play in the Premier League so it's irrelevant. I don't care if we're used as a stepping stone either. Aren't all signings treating us as such regardless? If they do well, we will sell them for the right price.

Yeah it's to expected that for the foreseeable future we'll act as a stepping stone for most players. We have been for a while. His slightly bitter words just amused me.

Although I'm gonna put off any thoughts about him going to a bigger club. At least not until he gets his work permit

Him and nigh on most Villa fans weren't (couldn't) watch the stream.

Lequipe....

Visiting England from 48 hours to discover the facilities and take the measure of his new destination, the middle of the runner LOSC Idrissa Gueye has signed for the next four seasons with Aston Villa, according to our information. Based on recent negotiations was a transfer fee of nine million euros for Lille accompanied by an approximately one and a half million euros maximum bonus. The Senegalese international, Dogue best of the season, in the Premier League would touch a gross monthly salary of € 250 000 against € 90 000 in L1.

Neither the LOSC or Aston Villa or Idrissa Gueye will disclose before mid-July. Once obtained the formalization, Lille will try to speed up the recruitment of mid Nancy Ibrahim Amadou, to an estimated € 2 million. Because the latter is able to evolve runner in axial defensive midfielder or central defender.

Neil- Actually no! Rather embarrassed to say I've not heard of it.

There's a poem by Betjeman called A Shropshire Lad.

If Richard is right and the signing is imminent then I'm pleased with this, I think he could be huge for us next season. Fingers Crossed!
