abdomlahor
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3145173/West-Ham-Crystal-Palace-locked-battle-sign-Lille-midfielder-Idrissa-Gueye.html Aston Villa have launched a £9million move for Lille midfielder Idrissa Gueye. The 25-year-old Senegal international was wanted by Southampton as a potential replacement for Morgan Schneiderlin. Their hopes looked dashed on Monday night when Marseille closed on a deal instead. However, that triggered a rush of fresh bids on Tuesday from Crystal Palace, West Ham and Southampton again who asked for Gueye to hold off making a decision. Villa director of recruitment Paddy Reilly though pushed to get a fee agreed last night and Lille are happy as they need to agree to sell the player by today for financial reasons. Gueye has been described by former France international and Senegal coach Alain Giresse as being 'as good as Jean Tigana'. Giresse, now coaching Mali, added: 'Gueye has stature, he has a good sense of anticipation and responds quickly. He is precise in his use of the ball and has started to add goals to his game too. 'In the dressing room, he is quiet and discreet, he has a good state of mind, he is a competitor.' Villa had been considering a move for Esteban Cambiasso from Leicester but that deal is on hold as they attempt to finalise terms with Gueye. SSN reporting tonight that we've agreed a £9m figure and is due in Birmingham tomorrow. Edited July 1, 2015 by abdomlahor

JAMAICAN-VILLAN
Just saw this, seems like it will be a good signing if true! Could be a Delph replacement based on description of his playing style, with more goals!
AvfcTheObsession
Is he a defensive mid, or more of a box-to-box player? I'm hoping the latter so he compliments Sanchez.
Ads
He's a defensive sitter, he's not like Delph.

Dodgyknees
My saints supporting friend mentioned this Gueye (snort), saying it doesn't matter if Schneirderererlyn leaves as Gueye is a ready made replacement for less money.
Mat Kendrick's Dentist
Just saw this, seems like it will be a good signing if true! Could be a Delph replacement based on description of his playing style, with more goals! Doesn't score many but he's a very good player. Hopefully we'll see him lining out alongside Fab rather than replacing him

abdomlahor
I think he's a box to box type player like Delph. Which makes me worry a little. I'm just gonna tell myself he's Cleverley's replacement. :/
Kingman
Just seen it on ye olde famous yellow ticker… Have to be honest I've never heard of him so couldn't really comment on the fella.
VillaChris
9m eh..... Watched a bit of French league last season actually but more games involving Lyon, PSG and Marseille as Lille bored me to tears as their games weren't exactly high scoring. So don't know much about this guy...is he purely a DM or more box to box? We badly need a midfielder who can actually score some goals.
PieFacE Posted July 1, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted July 1, 2015 Yay, know nothing about him. Just hope he's a Cleverley replacement rather than Delph.
HeyAnty
Me thinks he may be to replace Delph. Very similar
VillaChris
Hope not. We are a midfielder short though let's not forget with regular like Cleverley not being here now so one needed to be signed anyway. Would rather a signing like this than Huddlestone. Czechlad
We still haven't replaced Cleverly. If we sign another box to box mid after Gueye, then I'd worry.
