ChrisVillan
Funny how rarely anyone mentions a certain club once owned by a certain group of people used to angle for a free stadium. Those owners must have just forgotten the whole idea and just moved on, I presume...
Genie
Anyone know out of interest how Man City's deal compares to West Hams? Are Man City renting or have they bought it now?
Morley_crosses_to_Withe
The whole West Ham/Olympic Stadium thing stinks to the high heavens. The documentary on BBC 1 at the moment is shocking. Edited August 6, 2015 by Morley_crosses_to_Withe
Stevo985 Posted August 6, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted August 6, 2015 Anyone know out of interest how Man City's deal compares to West Hams? Are Man City renting or have they bought it now? It's in that article I posted. Man City pay all the running costs and overheads of their stadium, plus £4m rent a year.

DCJonah
Losing 2-1 on the night, 4-3 on aggregate and as it stands they are out of the EL Not sure I'm happy with this. I think the extra games and a manager that could be a disaster could have seen them in real trouble this year.
villan-scott Posted August 6, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted August 6, 2015 The team Bilic has put out would make MON proud, complete disrespect to the competition.
villa4europe
Said at the time and still think it now I think I understood what MON was thinking, cska had a cracking team (Vagner love, krasic, akinfeev, dzagoev) and I thought we were lucky to get a result at VP and had no confidence in us getting a result in Moscow, didn't anticipate the detrimental impact it had on the morale of the fans of the players Personally I was gutted when we lost to Vienna (x2) but the better team won, think it was a bit of complacency If villa approached qualifiers with the same mentality that West Ham have approached theirs I'd be absolutely **** fuming, when was the last time West Ham played in Europe? When will be the next? All to focus on finishing 10th in the league, what a load of bollocks, any fan saying they'd want to do the same needs to take a long look at what they actually want from football Give me Hamburg away over any other game villa have had in the last ten years, and we didn't even win that game... That's the other thing I'm interested in with West Ham, that stadium is a prime bit of marketing space, where's that money go?
Morley_crosses_to_Withe
And they're out! And now they'll spend 38 games trying to get in to the competition they've just been knocked out of.

VillaChris
Side they put out was basically a youth team and Kevin Nolan. Does seem bizarre they've seemingly given up on europe already seeing as they'd lose to Arsenal even if they weren't involved. Don't see them going down as hilarious as it would be. Then I'd expect West Ham to pay at least that much to use the Olympic stadium in London. Madness, as has been said, the whole thing stinks. benireduk
Just watched the BBC programme about their stadium move. Surprised no team has really challenged it to date. The deal West Ham are getting is ludicrous for the tax payer. I for one don't want my taxes paying for a brand new ground for a London team. The whole thing stinks In simple terms, West Ham's worth will more than double when they move and if the Porno Dwarfs decide to sell, the pocket the profits seemingly. villa4europe
Our own government won't touch this because it'll mean the actual costs of the Olympic Games and the "legacy" bollocks will be thrown out in to the public realm again and a fair few of them will be left looking silly, I'd be very surprised if the European Commission isn't sniffing around it though, maybe once they finally finish investigating half of La liga they might do something about it They've contributed £15m to a £700m stadium, now get to use it rent free (in effect) and pocket all the profit... I'd be fuming if I was Spurs, always seems to be Hearn and Layton Orient standing up against them whereas Spurs have just moved on Edited August 6, 2015 by villa4europe

I know it's completely OT, but, the problem with that CSKA game was that we didn't get 4th that season more than the playing youth, for me at least. Instead afterwards we blew a two goal lead v Stoke and won just 2 more games. If after that game we'd pushed on in the league without any distractions and at least challenged top 4 then that game against CSKA would probably be forgotten. Instead it is remembered as a game that MON threw the slimmest chance of silverware and still f'ed our league position. And I agree about if Villa took that approach to qualifiers. What MON did and what Bilic did are very different. One shows prioritising different things, one is complete disrespect for the competition. Anyway, West Ham, what a bunch of bastards.
