The Tim Sherwood Thread

I think everyone is behind him aren't they?

You would like to think so although there were an awful lot of Sherwood haters before he was appointed. After 3.5 years of McLeish and Lambert I don't understand why anyone wouldn't be behind Sherwood now.

I was a Sherwood hater.

My point is everyone is behind the manager now whether they wanted him here or not. We may have had our reservations before he arrived but I think everyone is happy to give Sherwood a chance and judge him on his time at Villa.

I think everyone is behind the team and by default that includes him for me. Cant say i'll ever warm to him though but if he can get results i dont care

"I don't mind playing badly. What I can't tolerate is a lack of desire and effort because people are coming to watch them play. I demand that. That's a minimum requirement."

Brilliant talk from Sherwood. Seems to know what we need and seems fired up to get there.

I've got to say. Although I am 100% certain that Sherwoods mouth will get him in trouble and cause us a fair bit of grief as a club, I am reading his press conference comments with a smile on my face.

I have craved a manager who is up front with the fans and explains performances with honesty.

Lambert was the exact opposite. With Sherwood there will never be any doubt as to how he feels about a performance and we will also get a little bit of an insight into where he thinks we are doing well and what is going wrong and why.

I was dead set against his appointment and that hasn't changed but the above is a nice refreshing change.

I was 100% against his appointment.

I am now 90%.

Keep bringing it down Tim.

Genuine question and not trying to cause a row!..

So what is it Sherwood has ever done historically to us or anyone else, thats go so many haters or class the bloke as a word removed?

I think it's beacuse he has a big ego, a touch of arrogance, he is very confident in himself, outspoken, passionate and can be deemed to be a bit confortational from time to time. All that can rub people up the wrong way, people seem to love him or hate him and there appears to be no middle ground IMO.

I think he is a great appointment and I happen to think he will do very well here, I felt good as soon as Sherwood was appointed which I never had with McLeish or Lambert.

I wouldn't have had him as first choice

I would have preferred a bigger name

But where we are as a club currently he is probably the best we can hope for

Now he's the "headmaster" and he has my backing 110% UTV

I like how he was in the stands watching and said these guys aren't even doing the basics got down and had a word, what was even more interesting was the players did it. People don't realise these players are pretty much like machines gives em instructions and that's what they do

I think Sherwood is a great appointment and he obviously does not mix his words, he calls a spade a spade. That shows backbone ( something Lambert was sadly lacking ) I am also quite confident that he will have stated as a condition that he wants/ needs a decent transfer kitty ( no more buying lower division players, well not wxclusevily anyway )a would not be suprised if we added some experiance to the team.

Come on Tim, show us what you and Aston Villa can do.

Given Sherwood's limited career so far I can see him very much sticking with a youth policy.

There is nothing wrong with sticking with a youth policy. The problem has been that we have been relying 99% on youth. We need some older, experianced players on the pitch to give advice, show the youth the ropes.

I guess it depends what it you mean by "behind him"? If you mean do I hope he will do well then yes of course. I will support him at games and give him the same chance I give every Villa manager

If you mean was I behind his appointment then no. He was near the bottom of the list of managers I would like to see here and I think he is a very risky appointment. I hope he works in the short term to give us the bounce we need, but I have real doubts about the stability of the club in the longer term under his leadership

I really really hope that he makes me eat my words

You wanted to keep lambert and defended the job he was doing all the time.

And now you're worried about us?

That makes no sense to me.

You need to give it a bit more thought then.  Support Lambert didn't mean that I wasn't worried about relegation.  From my point of view there was no-one available to us who stood out

I couldn't buy into the thinking that, literally, anyone would be better than Lambert but I would have supported getting rid of Lambert if we had someone better lined up

Sherwood might well turn out to be better but for me its a huge gamble - lets hope for all our sakes he proves me wrong

Gregory was exactly the same and I/we loved him for it.
