He hardly put a foot a wrong and looked solid defensively. Going forward was a real surprise as he made an overlap on numerous occasions and put a couple of decent crosses in. Was pretty much going to post exactly this! He's a **** unit too, were definitely not as frail at the back now. Was pleasantly surprised by how well he contributed to our attack and he seemed to pick his moments really well, and never once got stranded too far forward. Close the lad down, and don't give him a chance to play. Aly didn't look bothered by much the whole game no matter how hard Stoke tried. Bardsley was the only player I remembered beating him. There were a couple of occassions where he out muscled Stoke players to protect the ball for it to go our for goal kicks. His no nonsense approach to defending will be a key asset to us this season.
