Popular Post briny_ear
There is no dressing it up and there is no defending him. Senderos is **** shit That is a point of view but those dodgy stats that were badly quoted in a Norwegian newspaper shouldn't be used to try to back it up. The actual stats are here: http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/statistics/castrol-index/ranking.html Senderos got 4.12 in the Castrol Index on the basis of his 81 minutes, the same as our dear departed Jean X2 for his 9 minutes, and Tim Krul for coming on for a penalty shoot-out and making saves that took Netherlands through to the next round. Rickie Lambert also got 4.12 for his 3 minutes. Looks like the Castrol Index can't really handle scoring for players who only feature very briefly in the world cup so give them 4.12 for want of any better option. Like most Villatalkers, I'm a great one for slagging off players if they're not performing well enough for Villa but I have this romantic idea that you should wait until they have actually pulled on the claret and blue shirt and kicked the ball round a few times before starting up the hue and cry. srsmithusa
How did he look last night? I think he was only tested once, he looked shaky and fell over, but got the job done, danger cleared, just.
Texas_Mike
OK everyone.... time to cut this guy some slack. It may be pre-season, it may only be MLS teams (ask Arsenal how that worked out for them) but in 2 games he looked solid and apart from one stumble against FC Dallas (that he recovered from), he hasn't put a foot wrong. Welcome Philippe..... right now you are starting against Stoke City!

Wow - Lambert must be eager for the season to start - he's already told select few posters what the team is going to be - 2 whole weeks before kick-off - now THATS What I call advanced prepa ration -!!!! Czechlad
I like having Senderos at the club if it means he is not a consistent starter. He has not looked bad in the preseason, but I still would like Okore and Vlaar together as the starting pair. Then if one of them gets injured, you can look to Senderos, Clark/Baker, and Herd. Preferably in that order.
AVTuco Posted July 28, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted July 28, 2014 I'll wait at least until the 15th minute of his first league game before concluding if he's shit or not. (What i said during WC doesn't count)
quazzie goat
Thought he looked decent today. Imposing in the air and barking orders to others, which is what we need.
AVTuco Posted August 9, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted August 9, 2014 Should start against Stoke. I actually feel he might be important to us, especially during the Autumn. Wow....
smetrov
Looked good today - reckon he has played himself into the starting line up v stoke - further aided by a less than convincing showing from Okore...
JoshVilla
Looked okay today. Wasn't tested a great deal but he looked quite calm and comfortable. I think that he'll be fine starting next to Vlaar and/or Okore, but starting next to Clark or Baker on the other hand, we'll see.

Bunnski
I was impressed with him today. He was commanding and solid.
macandally
Did well today, him and Guzan were the only voices audible on the pitch. It could be his experience and organisation offers us a real asset this season. Conversely, as much as I like Okore he is nowhere near fit. He does not appear comfortable with his knee yet, seems to have gained a few pounds and is very much feeling his way back. Again, Senderos might just buy him the time he needs to get fully fit.
HanoiVillan
Honestly, honestly can't believe I'm saying it, but he looked alright today, and he probably should start alongside Vlaar next weekend. Fair play to him, if he keeps proving me wrong, nobody will be happier than me.
Villarocker
He did look decent but he did play the first half in what must undoubtedly be the worst back four in Villa's history. It was certainly the worst back four to line up in front of me. Could be that fact that made Senderos look so good?
KSV
they coudnt be that bad. They kept Parma quiet.
theboyangel
I thought senderos played well yesterday both alongside baker (who barring one hideous tackle also played well) and vlaar. There's a little bit of hope he'll turn out to be a good player for us.
