We’d been to Paris for our honeymoon and decided we’d use the hovercraft for the journey back, just to have used one. When we arrived at Dover the thing basically crashed, it hit the arrival ramp too fast and basically rammed it. Turned out our bags were at the very front. So, in the port there’s a Hovercraft info desk, as I’m walking up to it with all our belongings trashed and torn the man on the desk announces ‘Lordy! Did we do that?’ He actually called all the staff out of the back office to come and look and what properly smashed luggage looks like! Anyhoo, we explained we’d been on honeymoon, at which point he got out a claims form, signed the bottom, dated it, stamped it ‘approved’ and said to take it home blank and try to remember all the new things we’ve lost. Instead, we still had time to squeeze in a morning run in perfectly pleasant weather, and having cancelled later plans on the assumption it will be shit, I am now suspecting it's going to be quite anti-climactic. Our software suppliers can just copy and paste it in seconds (why we don't have this functionality I really don't know), so I asked them to do it for me as it'll take them seconds. I seem to remember a Norwegian 'adventurer' or pillock ignoring the warnings from New Zealand in regards to travels in International waters or something, then they had to send out a rescue team and it was big talk about him being fined with the cost of the operation.
