Popular Post Nigel Posted March 14, 2014 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted March 14, 2014 Jores Okore's Aston Villa comeback 'within weeks' Paul Lambert reveals injured defender is still doing light training with physios Jores Okore Jores Okore’s comeback could have to wait until next month after Paul Lambert revealed the defender is still doing light training with Villa’s physios. Okore is still ahead of schedule with his recovery from a ruptured cruciate ligament suffered in the home defeat to Newcastle last September. The Danish centre-half was originally scheduled to miss the entire season, but recently it was hoped that he could return before the end of March. Lambert is pleased with Okore’s rehabilitation, but confirmed that he has yet to resume full contact training with the rest of the squad. “He’s doing well,” said Lambert. “He’s outside running, which is good, so that’s a bonus. He’s probably back quicker than we thought. He’s doing a bit of work with the fitness lads, twisting and turning and moving it. He’s doing well.” Charles N’Zogbia is still “way off” as he continues his rehabilitation programme after severely injuring his achilles heel last summer. “He’s still doing his rehab,” added Lambert. “That injury has been pretty severe, as soon as you injure that then you have a problem. He’s doing all right with his rehab. But he’s still way off it.”

Cliffy Biro
Hope hes not rushed back but then obviously the physios and staff at villa know what they're doing. Good couple of games towards the end, a nice pre season and then hopefully starts next season ideally.

Good couple of games towards the end, a nice pre season and then hopefully starts next season ideally. This all over. I'm excited by a Vlaar/Okore partnership, a good mix of experience/positioning and pace/ability. Most of the best defensive partnerships have a mix in that regard.
Stevo985 Posted March 14, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted March 14, 2014 I'm not sure I'm going to be able to stop holding my breath when he makes his comeback. I'll be constantly worried of him re-injuring himself. Not even from a Villa point of view. Just thinking about him, would be devastating if he came back and re-injured the knee
SikhInTrinity
think it's wise what Villa are doing with him, PL stated he's still with fitness guys and not kicked a ball yet, working on jumping and turns etc.
myko
Exciting news, feels like a new signing. Could be a decent shout at right back (in the shorter term) if we continue to struggle in that area.
AndyM3000
Would like to know the odds of players who suffer a serious knee injury the chance it will happen again, seems a common thing. Laursen had problems, Gardner and another lad from our academy I cant remember his name. Holden at Bolton has done his knee in about 4 times now. Rovers13
I wouldn't hold him out once it heals. Once the knee is "fine", not playing doesn't really help. Just a higher chance of injuring his acl again over the next couple years than someone who's never hurt their acl.
Phumfeinz
I'm not sure I'm going to be able to stop holding my breath when he makes his comeback. I just have horrible visions of him coming on and injuring himself again. But I'm a pessimistic bastard. Rob182
I felt the same for months with Delph. Whenever he got tackled I would say "oh no, not again", but he's proof that people can recover from injuries and get stronger!
Farlz
Please hurry up and get fit.

Papillon
I can't wait to see the development of Okore the next few seasons, but I really don't want him to return this season. We don't need him to risk an early return to action, I hope he gets the summer to really strenghten his joints and build up physique. Sure enough, I don't know how his injury tolled up, but he is young and overly aggressive, so he is the kind of player that can injure himself in the first game by doing something heroic. Now that we are virtually safe, I want him back 100% fit - not 95% with a risk of immediate damage. So many players come back and injure themselves within 3-4 months. Wilshere, Ramsey, Diaby, Anderson, Delph, Nani.. The list is long
CannockVillan
I agree with Papillon. this guy shouldn't be rushed back. give him time to fully recover and get a good pre-season. At the moment there's no need to panic and i would think we'll get enouogh points over the next few games anyway (touch wood).
suttonpaul
DONT rush him back. We should only put him on the pitch when the physio's are sure not pretty sure he will be ok.
The_Lions_Roar
I can't wait for him to be back but I also don't want him to be rushed back. Part of me says just keep him for pre season and fully fit for next season rather than throwing him in for meaningless games.
villan_007
Not sure if this has been mentioned, but I really think we shouldn't rush him back too early,

I met him once and he genuinely was a nice guy. Seemed like he let the Bolton fans down with his injury. Doubt he will ever get back to what he once was. He was actually a very good centermid when he was in the premier league and when he got injured, Bolton started sliding down the table till they were relegated. ArteSuave
You're all wrong, I think we should rush him back. It's far more important to me that he is recklessly shoved back into the firing line for our annual drubbing at OT rather than progressing him back to full training sensibly for the sake of his long term health.
