KjParton
Couldn't they just wear a shirt with no sponsor on it? I'm sure the Dafabet company wouldn't mind it one person wasn't wearing it.

momo
Poor muslims, must be really hard to be a professional athlete with all those crazy rules. What crazy rules? No alcohol, no betting? Ask yourself this question: Why is it that professional fotballers is adviced to stay away from betting and alcohol, but at the same time wear a shirt that promotes those products? It is a bit strange that the people on the front are not allowed consuming what their are advertising.... I am not having a religious debate, but I can't see what rules hinder a Muslim from participating in the game of football.

The fact that a potential transfer to a club in a much better league, (a fantastic career move from the player) would be hindered by something advertised on a shirt? Just disappointing i suppose
omariqy
Pretty sure there are no rules in Quran about shirt sponsorship. Pretty sure. Thing is if they really want to be strict about it then they shouldnt be playing for that team. Indirectly they are getting paid through the money the club is making through their deal with the gambling company.

Mostly it's not about the money is from something haraam .. it's about the job .. Say you sell Alcohol .. then the money from it is haraam .. But let's say you're working with someone who have a casino .. And have a small shop .. And you're not working in the casino .. it's another story .. Same thing with football .. You're taking the money for your playing .. not for playing in a casino or working there .. So it's different .. Hope you got me ? Sorry for getting out from the topic anyway .. lol .. So, Cisse shouldn't refuse to wear a shirt because it says 'Wonga' on it, because he's getting paid by Newcastle to play football and he's not being paid by Wonga? Is that right?
