Completely disagree that taking honours from them mean nothing, I think it’s one of the few punishments that will actually mean something. A monetary fine and a points deduction this season would mean nothing. If the investigation has proven unprecedented cheating over the last decade has been the backbone of their ‘success’ I have absolutely no issue with this being voided, in fact I welcome it. But if the emirs were going to flex their muscles and call in favours etc., why would they wait until a four-year investigation was over? And can you imagine the enmity that would visited upon the current Government by the local Tory down at the pub (to say nothing of everyone else who votes) were it to get out that the Government caved to the emirs and let them shit all over the Game? The celebrations were already had, Champions League games already played, and honestly, the goals were already scored. Retroactively saying they don't count years later won't be a huge punishment, just as it won't be much reconciliation for the clubs they beat by cheating the FFP rules. For example, am I happy we lost the 2020 League Cup to those scummy bastards? Absolutely not, but will I be happy that we've been awarded the trophy 3 years later because of this? Not at all. Fines won't do anything... They'll just pay them and continue to do the same in the future, but probably more brazenly than before. Points deductions won't work unless they're significant (50+/season) for the next 14 years and continue to be tacked on if they don't clean up their books year after year. IMO, they need to be relegated and the EFL needs to make they start at the bottom of the pyramid again.
