It’s a risky one for Martinez, stay with the best group of players in the world who will keep you in a job, or go to Everton get found out and sacked within a year.

🤔

The team is ageing and Everton is about as good as it will get for him in management. Didn't he get them 5th?

It's a low point for Everton, a poor managerial decision and one where they gave him too much power, he's removed a lot of the staff that were there before, lost a good player to us and left them in a difficult position, they've got FFP trouble and their owner doesn't seem to have a clear underlying plan, he's impulsive and reactive.

But...

They're still a club that are well supported financially and in the stands and no matter how much their new stadium costs, it won't impact FFP and it's going to be a fantastic facility, they need a clear plan in place for the long term on their footballing structure and they need a bit of luck and a better decision on their manager, but I have a feeling that they've already bottomed out and that they'll be fine going forward.

Underneath this layer of crap, there's a very decent football club; I've always had a lot of time for Everton and found their supporters a decent bunch, it'll be crap for a bit, but I reckon they'll be okay.

So a rebuild essentially, but with the fans expecting them to maintain league position. Cripes, don't envy who takes on the job.

Edit...except for Richarlison who is actually good.

They have an ok attacking base. Gray, Richarlison, Calvert Lewin and Townsend isnt bad then Allan and Doucoure in midfield

At the back which is Martinez specialist skill then they are dreadful. Centre backs are awful. Pickford you dont know what he will do and Coleman is past it

On FFP, the conclusion to a thread:

I wonder if they might be forced into player sales. Difficult to see many sellable assets tbh, although I could imagine someone picking up Calvert-Lewin who isn't irreplaceable by a cheaper option IMO.

Aren't all the big spending clubs going to have some trouble with FFP due to covid. Even with the merging of 2 seasons, i think they'll end up relaxing it a bit when multiple teams find they are over the FFP limit.

There are allowances for covid, but Everton are likely to be over their limit even including those allowances.

However, you may be right that if half the league are over, they may need to extend the allowable losses somewhat.

Plenty of warnings to heed in that thread there from a Villa point of view, we are close to Everton in many of those charts.

Who even wants Martinez, their DOF? Moshiri sacked him within weeks when he took control in 2016.

He did very well the first season as they actually got 72 points which in most seasons since would get top 4.

Other two seasons they actually finished 11th on both occasions which surprised me as thought they'd be 8th or 9th so he underachieved considering likes of Lukaku and Barkley were pretty good in that period.

Of course Benitez was always going to fail but no idea how the return of Martinez 6 years on can be sold to Goodison faithful given it didn't work out in long run last time out.

They dont have a DOF, Rafa forced him out along with the head of Medical and Scouting

Kenwright is probably the person to pick the manager. Belgium wont let Martinez double job

I hope they enjoy their new £500 million stadium.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if that's put on pause. No way would you want those costs if you're in danger of relegation.
