I'm not saying he can't improve his game also but it's tough ask. The team tactic should immediately switch to get the ball to Jack so he can run at them. It's quite simple. It was painful to watch. What was Mount doing on that pitch tonight. I like him - as an "8" - but he just does not have the control on the ball to play where Safegate wants to play him. He might press better than Jack (btw, I am not 100% sure on that) BUT we have two "6"'s behind him so we needed someone who could dominate the ball. Kane has a fine goal scoring record but again was ineffective and Safegate should have had at least two "9" options (and with different styles) on the bench and have used them more given Kane's poor form. Watkins would have bought something different to that bench - a runner who could have changed our style up and given the CBs a completely different challenge. Giving Jack as little game time as he has is just criminal - everyone can see again tonight that, when Jack comes on, England's game is just lifted to a higher level. He has a spark, creates space for others and just generally lifts the mood across the team and the fans/atmosphere. He has made, imho, a complete mess of the best chance England might have of winning a tournament in years and not utilising Jack's strengths enough are just one element of his failures. The most depressing thing for me is that he is probably going to be in charge for at least the next two tournaments and, imho, that is a real shame for the best squad England have had in years. The past three years have been BS and it's a disgrace how little he's played for England. If he and Phillips had gone to Russia in 2018, we'd have absolutely got to the final there and would have been in with a shot if they both played v France. Didn't think he was great tonight or v Denmark, honestly thought Southgate was going to sub him off again aswell with the two coming on right at the end. Jorginho should've been sent off for challenge on him so hopefully nothing major there. Really surprised he didn't take a penalty tbh. Would've thought he'd have relished the pressure as h'es one of those players and he took good penalty in shoot out v West Brom but generally dosen't seem to fancy penalties for some reason. Interesting how England use him for next 18 months now given he's at least established in the squad but think he'll just be thankful coming back here where he's central to everything rather than just bit part player at international level.
