We really are clinging onto this season. All the xG stats from recent games since Forest has us behind opponents. Even Luton

We'll get found out soon enough unless we improve our performances

I'm quietly hoping there's an element of satire here mate

For a makeshift side that was a really good  first half. Fell apart in the second a little with players running on empty but no one deserves pelters imo.

Anyone blaming Emery or the players.... get a grip. Our first 11 could've taken that beating without anyone batting an eyelid.

Villa's makeshift team did okay but two glaring errors cost them two goals.

An assist for Rogers and a goal for Duran will build their confidence.

On the bright side, the not unexpected outcome hasn't done much damage to Villa's realistic aspirations.

Deserved to get beat but  I think it’s one of those defeats we will take a fair few positives from. On another day the plan could have worked, fringe players did well and ultimately we were undone by a couple of clinical finishes.

I'm comfortable with this, however it does make Saturday a big game.  We were likely going to lose anyway so I'm glad we've related some legs.

Olsen did well, naff all he could have done about any of the goals and looked pretty comfortable on the ball.

Encouraging glimpses from Zaniolo, Rogers and of course Duran - who kept his cool and played largely disciplined, which is great because at least we know we can trust in him to deputise when needed.

Thought Konsa did well up against Grealish, just a shame we didn’t get in at half time 1-1 following such a basic error.

Given the starting line up,  on the whole I thought the lads did not disgrace themselves. Two mistakes by Zaniolo (in the wall) and Chambers getting caught with the clearance just opened up a huge gap between the sides. At 2-1 well did have chances to equalise.

Lets start with a shout out for Olsen. Could not be faulted for any of the goals and made some good saves, given the histrionics by some before the game , this was not to be expected of an International keeper 😀.  Zaniolo put in a good performance and only let himself down with being weak in the wall, hopefully he learns from that.

Carlos, Longlet, Young Tim did ok. Duran & Diaby worked hard up front. City are not great at the back and when we did get at them, they looked fragile.

Tonight will not define our season and 3 points on Saturday afternoon will make the world seem a better place.

Onwards!

We did okay considering the team we had to put out. Could've been a different game if Dougie had put that chance away to make it 2-2.

GD didn't take too big of a battering. City are horrible. We move on.

Which just goes to show what a load of bollox statistics are. What a sad state when xG stats (whatever they are) are deemed more important than actual results.
We won, but stats say we shouldn’t have, we must be shit.

Well if we continue to play like that we’ll win more than we lose.

Definitely agree with you, but is this the same person who said this after the Kamara injury?

'' We have gone backwards and been weakened by further injuries. We'll lose more than we win from the remaining games. £10 to VT if i'm wrong''
