I think we will name a much stronger team for this game than some are predicting, Emery will want to win this competition, it's the most prestigious competition we have a realistic chance of winning, also I think we will want to avoid defeat in this game in particular, we've had too many games against so called lesser opposition where we've either lost, dropped points, or struggled in, we won't want that becoming more of thing than it already is, on a similar thought, Emery was brokenhearted by Stevenage defeat, and doesn't want to bow out of the FA Cup Third round for a second season in a row. Also us not having any midweek games before or after allows us to play a stronger team too Well, we are currently second in the league and the conference makes far more money for the club than the FA Cup. You can go on all about the traditions of the cup but that is the cold hard reality of it.
Rodders
Borough have a huge old injury list at the moment it seems. Another one today apparently. Feel more confident we won't see a stevenage **** up even with plenty of changes.

I'll take your word for it, I couldn't name many of their 1st team, seems a good few have moved on since last season (obviously our two came back). StewieGriffin
Think Boro will make a lot of changes and try to have a proper go at Chelsea on the Tuesday, so I'd expect us to win - this won't be against a Stevenage-playing-in-the-game-of-their-lives opposition. They'd probably quite happily lose and concentrate on keeping players fit to try and move towards the playoffs. Marschall / Olsen Cash - Carlos - Lenglet - Moreno Zaniolo - Iroegbunam - Kamara - Ramsey Diaby - Duran Konsa may play, as I think he's suspended at Everton? McGinn, Luiz, Watkins, Bailey, Pau all on the bench if we're struggling after an hour. 1-2 Villa
MWARLEY2
We will play a decent team. Maybe Tim will get a game. Maybe Duran will start and maybe Leon will be rested but to be honest we only have 3 or 4 games in Jan. They will be recovered now to push again. No suspension for Konsa for Everton as it's past 19 games, need to get to 10 bookings for a suspension now

useless
If we don't want to risk Moreno because of Digne already being injured, I wonder if Chrisene could get a start, or maybe Triston Rowe coming in at right-back, with Cash playing left-back

Generous that we are that high given our horrendous record in the competition. 2 1
calcifer
Live on the BBC, haven't got past the 3rd round since the 2015/2016 season and that took a replay (Vs Wycombe) What was amazing is the season before that we lost the final to Arsenal. Don't expect us to get past Middlesbrough with our second string.

DJBOB
I think Unai will tell us how much he rates taking the FA Cup seriously by the lineup. If we see Chambers, then you know we're taking the piss.

Marka Ragnos Posted January 3 VT Supporter Share Posted January 3 We better be taking this as seriously as any PL fixture right now. I think it's going to be a nervy affair. We need to destroy Boro, get way ahead, and let them drag their bloody guts across the pitch until we deign to swat 'em aside. Once we're at that stage, basically having reduced them to a wet stain in the turf, then, sure, send in the kids and enjoy the game.
