We are looking like flat track bullies so far. Main issue is inability to maintain composure under a tight press. We have the ball away too much and that leaves your defenders caught with their pants down.

Zaniolo looked very good though, and he looks a better option than Bailey.

Yes, weak, not very good teams = fine.

Good, aggressive, accurate passing teams = worrying.

Mid table, at best.

Pretty unforgivable to put in a non performance like that, especially after so many were rested in the week to be ready and fully at it for what was a golden opportunity for us today with the absentees at the back for our opponents.

Think Emery got it wrong by not bringing a Tielemans in instead of Bailey, we needed to get some control in the midfield. We struggled with their press, couldnt defend corners or long balls, and were just passive all over the pitch.

Diaby, Douglas and Konsa come away with some credit, but everyone was miles off it today. 1-0 down after 3 mins was the start we dreaded and unfortunately, the writing was on the wall from there on out. Liverpool will finish closest to Abu Dhabi this season I think, so there is that to take into account, but our performance should be rightly criticised, it was abysmal today.

Good time for a break, we need bodies back. Hopefully Diego, JJ and Moreno wont be far away. Defence needs to improve dramatically.

We need to get amongst the opposition off the ball. Our off the ball pressure is poor. If players like Szobszlai and Trent are given 15/20 seconds every time then you’re going to lose badly. Mcginn is better on the right and Boubs is having second season syndrome.

Torres is about 6 months away from being ready for the premier league but is worth persevering with.

Emery made big mistakes that cost us any chance sadly.

Team set up seemed good but positioning was terrible from the back 5, Carlos went off and a chance to win the midfield by bringing either teilmans or donk on to make us more solid.

Puts the weakest player ever to done a villa shirt in Bailey. Literally useless today, in a game we need effort.

So many players just stopped even walking, let alone made any effort to even pass the ball to the correct team.

Dismal is flattering.

Looked far better once Bailey taken off and a player who wanted to win came on.

Duran hitting some wayward shots rather than check back but he's young and at least showed some fight

Any away game Bailey shouldn't be anywhere near the team unless we are 2 nil up with a minute to go.

He wasn't the only weak player today, its like yet wete ordered to not tackle, the most limp effortless performance I've seen since emery came in.

Can only get better.

Bang on. We needed another body centrally. Don got it wrong today

Not many teams press as well or as high as Newcastle or Liverpool in this league

We aren’t good enough yet to be missing the like of Mings, Moreno, Ramsey and Buendia and it shows when you play better teams. Having said that we were poor but when you concede such a soft goal after 3 minutes it’s always going to be a long day!

Unai did get it wrong but what could have been if McGinn had put his shot on target and Bailey/Watkins found a way to put it in goal from less than 6 yards out.

Fine margins against Liverpool. Take a break and get the players prepped for the upcoming fixture slog.

No shame in losing to Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield.

However, that performance was unacceptable and a near disgrace regards competing. No effort, no desire, no aggression, no game plan, nothing.

If players have to solely rely on the manager giving them constant instructions on the side line then we have worries.

We have to find a way to play against teams who press us. We have played two teams who do that and had our arse torn by both teams.

Unai, you have alot of leeway but now isn't as forgiving as yesterday

Time to fix this weakness.

Ok I only listened to it on the radio so I am at the hands of the commentary team to call it as it is. With that in mind it was a very worrying performance. It seems we just weren't at it from the first whistle and that just isn't good enough. This high line, especially away from home is a real concern and something the manager should be addressing. Bringing Bailey on was a really poor decision backed up by the fact he was subbed himself. Emery need to get a grip with the core of this team and get them going from the off, especially in these big matches, or prepare to get rid of those players who are not up to it. Very little to be happy about Diaby sounded a threat very occasionally. Must improve F+.
