Posted August 26, 2023 Moderator Popular Post Share Posted August 26, 2023 I think Olsen was perhaps unfortunate in that he made big mistakes (and small mistakes) in his first few appearances and he doesn't play often enough so that we can judge him by a more consistent period of performance - he's not been too bad in his last two or three games and I suspect that his poor start for us affects both his relationship with us and sometimes his confidence in games. We're very lucky to have Emi, he's a fantastic goalkeeper with a hugely reassuring presence at the back - being his deputy can't be easy. If he starts, Burnley will be frothing at the mouth in pressuring him and our defence will get very nervous and we will probably end up lumping the ball long, losing possession frequently and gifting Burnley the 3 points. So if EMI is injured or suspended we have to have a reliable and confident keeper to step in, especially when we may have lots more games to play this year. Emi can sometimes look shaky when getting pressed, I'm sure it's something that is worked on in training time and time again.
