Look at the new badge compared with the rest of the Prem.  It doesn't pop like the other recent redesigns (Brentford, Man City, Spurs, etc.) and of all the circle badges, we're the most muted.  Not really something that can be iconic to a global brand.  It makes sense to see us do everything over again, as painful as it'll be.

Can’t agree with your summary!

Demonstrates just how atrocious West Ham's is.

You think it does pop and can be iconic?

I agree it's doesn't pop on that purple background, it would if it was white.

But that's been my issue with the crest really*, I think it'll look great on a white away shirt, but it looks dull on a claret shirt.

*that and the lion facing the wrong way

If we start winning consistently and are consistently in contention for trophies it won’t matter what the badge will look like, it’ll become iconic with our success.

So a new club employee can waltz in and over rule a vote of the clubs fans?

A matchday carpark steward?  Not at all...

The President of Business Operations?  Absolutely.

They'll hopefully go away for a few months and spit out a badge that's significantly better than both of the options that actually went to the fan vote (which, imo, is not a very difficult task), and the awful mishandling of this situation will be swiftly forgotten about.

No god-awful surveys this time though, please. If they have to, at least do one where less than 80% of the questions aren't complete nonsense.

I think Heck is on this.

As noted in other threads, the Americans are quite good on their Sports Branding.

Undoubtedly whichever direction we go in will probably be " modern " and alot of fans won't like it but I'm all for it.
