How are Apple going to measure breaches now though? Twitter has always been a shithole of hate and racism. Why didn’t they give it the boot before?

They at least had a moderation policy with adequate staffing to deal with complaints, even if you think they were too soft (and I'd agree).

Now, it's essentially 4chan v3

Anyone else noticing Twitter is starting to feel spammier and clunkier now? My feed is full of weird ads

Our corporate account is definitely getting some very strange followers again. I've no doubt the porn bots will start again soon

Started seeing them within days of Musk buying it. Loads of twits of ladies with links to no-strings websites in their bio.
Or maybe that’s just the algorithm responding to my searches

Under their existing terms, if hate speech etc. is moderated (and removed) then that’s the get out for app devs. Musk potted loads of mods, more resigned. So now, in addition to letting back a load of previously banned crazies, twitter appears to be no longer meeting the t&cs under which it is on the Play and Apple app stores. That’s the change, since he took over, no more moderation of hate, plus more hatey users.

Apple allows ‘Telegram’ and ‘Truth Social’ in their App Store. It would take something pretty bad for them to remove Twitter.

Not really, it's all about optics. Telegram and TS don't even hit the usage stats in the US. Their userbase is that low. Twiter is only used by 23% of the population by way of comparison, even Reddit is now climbing and at 18%. Facebook is flatlining but at 69% but Youtube is the daddy at 81% and still climbing. Twitter's usage has been in slight decline for a few years, it's a niche platform at best. Telegram and TS are just very obscure

Twitter have stopped taking action against covid misinformation accounts from today.

to be honest, they didn't do THAT much in that direction anyway. It was a five strikes policy and to actually get perma-banned you had to breach it many more times than that

Still, another step towards pushing the doors fully open to idiots, madmen and bots.

I am starting to think it’s like Brewster millions and he’s bet someone he can sink it completely within 6 months.

He's also not as smart as he thinks he is either

Yes, I think this is case.   He's had a run of luck.  Thrown some mad ideas out there and managed to make it work with a mixture of bravado/bullying/throwing obscene amounts of money at projects.  But I think he believes he's some kind of genius miracle worker with a golden touch.  I think he's misread the room massively and is not half so clever as he thinks he it.

Thing is you can bullshit, bluster and bully people who work for you (to a differing extent) but the general public don't have to take any of that.

He's also got some failures you don't hear much about like the cars on rollerskates and solar tiles.   There are probably more.   Maybe he's just too distracted from some of these projects or maybe he's got it wrong/overstretched himself.  Burning Twitter ain't going to help any though.
