Since Musk has taken over Twotter, what appears in our company account timeline is very different. Today its the American Actress and the English Prince. I couldn't give a f***, neither could the company. Now we do follow a few news outlets so you expect it from those sources and its all usually ignorable but its the sheer volume of tweets from sources we don't follow that are now in our timeline makes it pretty useless as a tool

It’s definitely gotten a lot more spammy from my experience.

Without a shadow of doubt. The random spam DMs have kicked off again. It used to just be pornbots now it’s all kinds of nonsense, betting tips on the World Cup, you name it, getting all sorts of rubbish sent

My timeline is full of tweets from accounts I don’t follow. What’s with that?! This is exactly what Twitter is not supposed to do.

Mine too. All of them from people who'd enjoy an appearance on GB news.

My timeline is sorted on latest tweets, accessed via the star symbol at the upper right. I only see the people I follow, unless they RT something, but I also see them in order. Nothing creeps into my timeline.

I don't know why everyone hasn't had this enabled since forever. The "home" timeline is just a dreadful algorithm-generated list of nonsense and regularly doesn't show you tweets from those you follow in my experience.

Always put it into "latest" mode. That's how it was originally meant to work and how it should work.

Edit: this doesn't stop promoted tweets of course, you still see those... Mostly I get football betting stuff for some reason even though I never bet on football

Anyone else noticing replies are getting displayed in the wrong order now? Really looks like the predicted cascade of bugs is starting to kick in - I guess as traffic has surged around the World Cup, and no doubt will get heavier over Christmas as more and more people in the US and Northern Europe are stuck indoors. Should be entertaining.

Elon Musk is a reprehensible man, isn’t he. Just a completely juvenile worldview. Would love it if he found himself in a devastating financial hole after this… although got a feeling he’ll get bailed out by Saudis / Chinese

No way the US Government would allow The Chinese control of Twitter. Probably not The Saudis either.

You’d be surprised what the House of Saud already own. Saudi were big investors in twitter before Musk bought all the shares

He’s still worth well over a hundred billion isn’t he? I don’t think he’s going to need handouts anytime soon.

This is mostly locked up in Tesla shares, which he can’t sell without tanking the price - plus the financing situation for the Twitter purchase will eat into this very quickly indeed. His situation is more precarious than it looks.

He’s already sold billions of his Tesla stock,  he isn’t going to sell it all in 1 go as that would obviously tank the price.

He’s undoubtedly cocked up this “investment” but doubt he’s anywhere close to needing outside financial support.

And Tesla stock is down 55% this year, with plenty more room to tumble. Very wealthy people can still end up taking on more debt than they can manage, and then have a moment of reckoning. Not saying he’s going to end up homeless on the streets, but think he could stand to lose most of his wealth over the next couple of years. He’s in a much more precarious position than someone like Warren Buffett.

I don't think there was a suggestion he was. The OP was something like I would love it if he got into financial trouble.

This investment is propped up by his Tesla stock. If Twitter goes tits up, he no longer owns a good chunk of his currently held Tesla stock
