Just the one spot up for grabs I imagine. Whoever partners big DC.

You can’t tell anything from the first match of the season, particularly when it is against a newly promoted team.

I’m prepared for any possible result and will remain calm whatever the outcome.

Need to get a few more matches done before we can judge really how it’s going.

Calm! Blimey.

I hope you don't have a grump about the owners spending again if it goes against us. That would be embarrassing.

Can see our owners just pumping in more and more money just to keep  ̷S̷m̷i̷t̷h̷  Gerrard as manager this season, whatever the results.

Any result, I'm sure your calm posts will provide entertainment.

Not sure if it would be good man management not starting Tyrone to be honest.

Would be too many gut punches at once IMO.

We'd be better off giving him a. Chance to play himself out of the team.

Saying this even though I'm a big fan of Chambers and wouldn't mind him starting work th Carlos.

I'm also one of those awkward people who likes the Left Footed LCB and Right footed RCB balance.

What's your opinion on two left-footers?

I am absolutely certain, that if we rely soley on our superior talent alone.....we won't win.

We need to make sure we don't gift cheap goals from set pieces. They'll obviously be lumping it up to Kieffer Moore and he showed for Wales in last euros he can step up at key moments. Think I'd rather Mings is still in there early weeks just to guide Carlos through the opening prem weeks and just be another good aerial presence for us.

HAHA!

Stevie dropping his mate?? Not happening! If we go with McGinn and Ramsey in the middle then i think we will be overrun, . This game is a banana skin! We should be winning this one easily, but like Brentford last season a same on paper we should have won, we lost,  Gerrard grows a pair, play both Coutinho and Buendia, or drop Coutinho, either way Buendia must start!

Also Ramsey on the bench with Luiz taking his place.

Would also be tempted to start with Ings upfront and bring Watkins on later

Coutinho was left on bench for both Burnley games at back end of last season so he's not an automatic starter like McGinn is.

I think if you look at the context, that post was an attempt at irony/satire (obviously failed )🤣

Well done, though, you win “saddo of the day” award for trawling through your archive of my past posts. 😵

Konsa should be the one to start IMO. Best defender by some way not including DC.

I don't think Mings will take any of this well at all to be honest. I don't rate him massively but to have not only the captaincy taking but half the squad named as alternatives ahead of him is very strange.

So if Bournemouth smash us 7-0 we cant tell anything from this game?

I have a feeling you werent so supportive when Watford went 3 up last season

So lets make it easy for Steve tomorrow and do a checklist for him.

Bailey must start.

Buendia must start (if fit).

If McGinn is crap please sub him asap.

Do not play Ings and Watkins together.

I’d add to the list: sub anyone who is crap. Hope we have a strong bench.

Good of you to reveal what you are wishing for from this game. 😀

Obviously, if Bournemouth smash us 7-0, Steven Gerrard should be drowned in very hot oil, torn limb from limb, roasted over a hot fire, and eaten by his detractors on Villatalk.

We beat Liverpool 7-2 a couple years ago. Wouldn’t say we could tell anything from that game.

Really? Are you saying that was an insignificant game

That was 3rd game of the season when we smashed the runaway Champions after we stayed up in the last minute of the previous season. We then got our highest points total in 11 years in the top flight and our star player then went onto become English footballs most expensive player

The result is everything today. We just need a positive platform to build the season from.

Quieten the crowd and then control the game and hopefully our quality will then tell.

Hopefully we get a performance today as well but it’s not the priority.

The calamitous 2015-2016 relegated Villa team started that season with an away win at newly-promoted Bournemouth.  It will be pretty sad if the post-takeover Villa with Coutinho, Bailey, Kamara, Carlos, Martinez, etc. can't match that feat.   Obviously, one game doesn't make the season but it would really drain my optimism if we were to lose or draw.
