But we had a full preseason.

Full team bonding according to Gerrard.

Is he just talking out his arse?

It is the modern way. Everyone talks out of their arse because no-one dares to admit they are not ready... unless you are Bournemouth, where admitting you are not not ready is a tactic that works.

We desperately need more physicality in the team. A big unit in midfield and a big presence up top to give us another option.

Our team is far too small and too easily brushed aside.

Sadly, already looks like Tarkowski is a solid signing for Everton.

Him alongside Carlos would have been really good.

I've been saying this for a while.

Konsa shouldn't be playing ahead of Mings/Chambers either though.

Clearly the notion that this squad is good enough to fight for a top 10 place is nonsense, today's shambles shows that, so it looks like the cheque book needs to come out again, the owners must be very concerned.

I agree with this. We are so weak. I think that’s why he is so reluctant to play Emi and Phil together as they are both so small. Bringing Ty back in is a must.

We need a striker more than anything, it's not about a player that will score more than Ollie and Danny, it's about a player that will hold up the ball better than them, link up with our players better than them, that's what we're missing in the final third, someone that will bring others into play. Jonathan David would be far out.

Why is it the squad?  The squad is capable, it is not being utilised in the right way with favouritism over performance and form.

This squad should have beaten Bournemouth if they played with any degree of intensity, instead it is slow, regimented and lacking in guile

Unfortunately most of our central midfielders are slow, lacking in urgency, regimented and lacking in guile.  They have been for 3 seasons.  Unless Gerrard addresses this quickly then he'll end up going the same way as Smith.  Without any strength and leadership in the middle of the pitch we will never be consistent enough to get to where people expect us to be.  Our midfield don't provide that.  When we are playing well it is less of an issue.  But when we are struggling the midfield just fade away even further.  Which makes the decision to give the captaincy to one of our midfielders even more bizarre.

IF we don't need goals, we have Keinan Davis

We shouldn't be giving Gerrard any more money to spend.

We buy good players. If Gerrard can't get a tune out of them, someone else will.

Or we let Gerrard buy more players. He gets sacked. New manager doesn't want said players. We have yet another "bomb squad" we can't sell and end up loaning out for 3 seasons and lose insane money on.
