I have no idea how much he would cost. Just a stab in the dark mate! Would be perfect for us though.

If it were up to me, I'd look to offload the following:

Kalinic - £2m

Guilbert - £3m

Trezeguet - £5m

El Ghazi - £5m

Davis - £10m

Targett - £15m

Hause - £5m

Traore - £10m

Hourihane - £0

Wesley - £3m

Nakamba - £5m

Total - £63m

Looking at our realistic incoming

Olsen - £3m (GK)

Bassey - £15m (LB/CB)

Bissouma - £30m (CM)

Suarez - free (ST)

Carlos - £26m (CB) - already done

Coutinho - £17m (AM) - already done

Kamara - free (CM) - already done

Total -  £91m

Net Spend - £28m

That would give us the following:

GK - Martinez, Olsen, Sinisalo

LB - Digne, Bassey

CB - Mings, Carlos, Chambers, Konsa, Bassey

RB - Cash, Chambers, Kesler-Hayden

DM - Kamara, Luiz, Bissouma

CM - Ramsey, Luiz, Bissouma, McGinn, Sanson, Chukwuemeka

AM - Coutinho, Buendia, Bailey, Chukwuemeka

ST - Watkins, Ings, Suarez, Archer

Certainly an improvement on last season with much greater squad depth.

Who knows what the market will pay, and buying first then having to sell is not a great plan, but we are mugs if we don’t get a fair valuation for our players, Purslow and Lange are business men who you expect will wring out the best value on sales too.

For me a truer reflection of market value in the PL (or say Ligue 1) is:

Wesley - £0

Kalinic - £0

Guilbert - £5-8m

Hause £8-10m

Targett - at least £15m

Traore - £15m

Davis - £10-12m

Nakamba - £10-15m

Sanson - £12-15m

El Ghazi - £7-10m

Trezeguet - £7m

Ings and Luiz could go too, and they’d recoup £45m

I’ve seen a couple of tenuous links to Hugo Ekitike, the kid that Newcastle wanted in January.

Supposed to be very highly rated and is now being linked to the likes of PSG as well. If we could sell Davis and use Ings in a swap deal for Bissouma, we could bring in Suarez and this guy and drastically improve our attacking options.

Very highly rated. I thought I saw Dortmund were after him. Can't see us signing this one.

Diaby is a great player but is a winger....

So. I like two left forwards and two right forwards. Give us options and different styles. Gerrard have ten different attackers at rangers not just centre forwards and 10's. Having a couple of pace options out wide of the centre forward makes sense.

Johnstone, Eriksen and Dybala are the only ones seriously worth looking at, there is a lot of extremely injury prone players on that list.

I think Johnstone will go to a team as first choice GK, I can't see him wanting a return to Villa as number 2

Unsure if a dose of realism is needed with some of the names that have been thrown around, whether they would even be interested.

Can’t really see the likes of Dybala, Nunez, Lautaro, De Vrij, Koulibaly for example paying us much attention

You can probably add Coutinho, Kamara and Carlos to that list too

I've always loved Milner if I'm honest

Could he ay a bridge role for a year, allowing for Iroegbunam to continue getting experience and being mentored and ready for next season?

Could be more lazy Bollox anyway

And Bailey, Digne and Buendia (when arsenal were confirmed to have bid for him)

Preaching to the converted here, I think we should play with wide forwards...... Gerrard doesn't agree
