Both Koulibaly and he have been linked to us several times in the last few weeks. That's why I chose them. Pau Torres is another possibility. Can’t really see the likes of Dybala, Nunez, Lautaro, De Vrij, Koulibaly for example paying us much attention but would love to be proved wrong. Especially when it comes to younger stars (don’t want us to go for many ageing players on big contracts. Kamara is a perfect signing, some longevity is required.) Mind you, we managed to get Kamara so I’m assuming that we are a more attractive proposition nowadays so can extend our reach or ambition a bit, in terms of targets? I’d like to pair Bouba with a physically dominant, strong yet composed on the ball type. A Bissouma or similar player (Sangare?) would fit the bill and make us really solid and imposing. Then the real “8” in our system can enjoy attacking more too.. Ramsey would have to be first in line for that position but great to have McGinn & Luiz as options too. We could end up with quite a strong squad with plenty of options… we really need to go all out for European qualification if we are going to splash the cash and increase the size and quality of the squad/our options. Having a rock solid base will allow our forwards/attackers to thrive and focus on creating and scoring, we wouldn’t be so dominated or pushed around in games any longer either… We’ve solidified the defence and I don’t feel it has any glaring weaknesses… I expect Mings to improve a lot and carry less of a burden/responsibility too. Expecting a lot from Carlos… We just need to help the players reach their best form by having a stronger and more resilient side… where certain players don’t have to cover for the deficiencies of others… I’m trying to take a more relaxed approach to this window and just see how it goes rather than speculate too much. Maybe because I feel we have genuine quality in the side but have yet to get the best out of those players… Buendia and Coutinho on top form, for example, would be quite a sight to behold next season. A fit and firing Bailey could really help us out too… And if we can get our strikers firing (whoever we end up with) then that would be amazing. Early signs of our activity are very promising and maybe a slight transformation or mini overhaul is required if we genuinely want to get our act together and truly become a top half (top 8/6 even) side. It’s going to take a major effort… I admire or like most of our first team players (that doesn’t include those on the periphery of the squad or out on loan, they all need to go and hopefully we can raise a fair amount of funds from those sales) nowadays and would feel varying degrees of sadness to see them go but maybe we need to move past those who are not of the required level/quality… maybe some of them have taken us as far as they could or reached their limit… then again, good players improve with better players around them so… I dunno Edited May 30, 2022 by Jas10 5 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

You don't question the plausibility of signing Martinez or Diaby but pull me up on an at best 5m transfer fee we might be able to receive when my other fees are probably wide of the mark. Chill dude.
