Calum Chambers

His Name Is Death

Recommended Posts

Interestingly, i was reading the paper reports of when Arsenal first signed Chambers in 2014.

Chambers was actually a right back, or to a lesser degree, a defensive midfielder, and Wenger said specifically "he is very talented, capable of playing the way i want to play, we will develop him in to a central defender".

I didnt realise he wasnt originally a central defender, but it also kinda makes sense now, as i have seen many Arsenal fans saying he played better at right back & looked a little ropey at centre back, he was voted player of the year at DM for Fulham also.

interesting.

Started off quite well tbf. Countinho eye catching signing for nominal outlay. Digne looks good going forward.

Football has been dour of late. Sure you have to grind out results now and then - but it's turgid all the time.

You crack me up.

I think this guy will play more often than most people are expecting. He is better than people think and his versatility means he will get opportunities. I would not be surprised to see him starting half of our remaining matches. He’s a really good signing in my view.

ye quite possibly, but we gotta be mindful that he has only played 200 minutes of football since August 21, so even if we do intend to play him, he wont be anywhere near match fit initially (like most of our squad right now :) )

I don't think he'll play as much as you think unless there's injuries. Not playing RCB or RB ahead of Konsa or Cash. Unlikely midfield 3 ahead of Luiz Mcginn Ramsey Sanson(I really want to see lot more of him) and then you've got Carney.

I think at best late tactical sub when leading maybe

I too see him as a RB or central Defensive midfield.....in a 4-3-3 or in the double pivot with Luiz in a 4-2-3-1....that relaxes Luiz and releases McGinn to play further forward too.

He hasn't played at DM since that 18/19season at Fulham though. He may get game time there off the bench, but hard to see him start there ahead of Luiz in the run of games we have coming up

I would have thought he's been brought in as a right footed center half. If the coaches think he can do a job as a 6 and it means we get Luiz further up the pitch then it might be worth a go. Can't see it myself though.

Ha. Haha. Hahaha.

Truly expert trolling is a game of fine margins, but being this obvious takes all the fun out of it. Like when Villalad21 tried to blame Wesley for Ben Mee’s horror tackle, some things are so obvious they just can’t be waked back.

Yeah I’m sure he’s been brought in as CB cover and could maybe surprise a few with his quality 🤷‍♂️?

Might be debatable who ends up being the better option out of Chambers and Hause.

Gives us some peace of mind for the CB dept for now and we can review it again ahead of next season.

I just feel we will sign that DM asap and have been working hard on it, just don’t want to get ripped off which is completely understandable. It is important to get value…

I also can’t see how Chambers would perform to Luiz’s standard, who has shown how good he can be in that position (helping us stay up) but would love to be surprised… don’t think any of our other midfielders possess the same level of composure, control and passing ability either, has been key to us in terms of build up play. We don’t possess a better option atm, with Nakamba injured (who I still believe is a limited player).

A new DM and Doug can enjoy playing further forward but if we don’t manage to do such a deal then it’s not the end of the world.

So long as we sort it ahead of next season at the latest! 😆

I am 'only' 53 but I remember working an using the internal post system to send messages to colleagues. I went through University and the internet wasn't a thing. We had to do research using things called books in a place called the library. Kids don't realise how lucky they are these days :)
