They've deliberately made it look like he's in more control than he is. This is the philosophical issue around VAR, isn’t it? That on a still image, he has ‘control’, but there’s no way he is in possession of that ball when JJ strikes it. That Kasper feigns an injury to make it seem more convincing just adds extra stench. Talldarkandransome
What was VAR looking for on the first goal? Second goal should have counted as the millisecond that goalie was touching the ball for does not constitute being in control of the ball. Once again VAR being used for incorrect purpose as not clear and obvious mistake. Hopefully that will spur us on as overall we have been average at best.
tonyh29
He wasn’t in control of the ball and it wasn’t a clear and obvious error from the ref , so the goal should have stood
KMitch
Tim Howard sounds baffled here on NBC and says it should have been given.
Annoyman
Absolute cringe from Schmeichel. He wanted the first one disallowed because...reasons and didn't he also randomly start a fight on one of our players last season for the crime of scoring a goal past him? The_Steve
Kasper's got his hand on the ball because he's fluffed it and then fakes an injury to sell it. On what evidence does the ref need to go to the monitor? The strength of VAR isn't enough to overturn it.
MotoMkali
Just now, Spoony said: Well if that statement of the law from that tweet is correct, “control” just means having the ball between the hand and a surface. So it’s the right decision. No it isn't. Because the hand should be more than 2 fingers. Villa are getting **** by the wording of the law not the intention. It's the same as it was vs City last year. They are absolutely changing the word g after this to be more clear.

MessiWillSignForVilla
Why does it seem to only be us that have goal incidents that lead to every pundit reading out the rules for the next week to justify why an obviously bullshit decision is technically correct?
