Better for Gerrard to bounce now, and let someone else, be it a new manager or a tempory manager, have the Fulham and Brentford games, otherwise we're in danger of us doing okay in those games which would be a good thing in of itself but would only be a short term fix before we go on a run of bad form again, as said previously we don't want to keep going in circles where he's on the brink of the sack and then does just enough to keep his position and so on and so on.

Now is the perfect time to make a change.

Agreed. There have been several perfect times to make a change. This is certainly the most recent though.

If the higher ups had been a bit more proactive we might not have **** our season.

So the question here is do the owners honestly believe he is doing a good job, or if not he can turn this around?

If they do then I'm sorry but they may be good businessmen who saved us, but their investment is dead getting relegated.

Gerrard will take us down. Surely they see this?

Slight issue is whenever we do sack him, Critchley will be presumably handed the reigns.

Critchley is doing all the training now. They'll be no change for the players for a while.

Fingers crossed Critchley is coaching around this shit system that will never work and can actually make us look a bit different from the off.

Critchley is just a coach. He does what Gerrard asks him. At least he’d play with proper wingers if he was in charge.

This time last season we sacked our coach who got us promoted, kept us up and got a solid mid-table finish because "we couldn't see the continuous improvement we expected".

After 10 games he had 10 points. That's 1 more than we have now after the same number of games.

It certainly seems like an open-and-shut case when you put it like that, but what I fear you haven't considered is the overriding imperative not to make Christian Purslow have to admit to making a mistake.

I think he’s going to have the Fulham game.

Today can easily be “First defeat in four matches”, “Gave it a real go against an in form Chelsea”, “Individual errors”…

They’ll be expecting a similar attacking threat against Fulham on Thursday. Failure to win and that might be it.

If we win, it’s still on borrowed time.

As @HanoiVillansays, actually being in the relegation zone might do it more than a defeat to Fulham.

How the hell the owners can’t see that is beyond belief. How standards have dropped in 12 months.

Because what was said previously was bullshit.

The whole statement when Smith was sacked was utterly garbage.

It’s depressingly looking that way. Couldn’t miss the opportunity to appoint his golden boy.

I said it at the time and everything since just confirms it.

We were desperate to get him before any other club did and Smiths bad spell gave him the perfect opportunity.
