It’s all bluff and counter bluff. I’d imagine the kid isn’t over impressed that his current club are basing his next contract on what they can get away with paying rather than showing that they value him.

Arsenal as the club who currently own him hold the advantage but they aren’t holding all the cards. The lad isn’t blind he’ll be aware that we’re now a club on an upward trajectory and Arsenal are heading the opposite direction. Our biggest advantage is we can actually front up with the dough if they call our bluff, Arsenal are operating on payday loans. Who’s the Daddy now?

understand the interest may well be real, but, most of the reports of seen also state they are confident he will sign a new deal, so, why are we wasting our time if that is the case?

Indeed why are we? Maybe the reports of confidence he will sign a new deal maybe wide of the mark.

There is obviously a reason we are going back a second time and given our team have more than press reports to go on I’m assuming there is a slight door open here.  He may sign a new deal, but there must be some smoke here for our guys to still pursue it based on information us fans don’t have.

It does seem a non starter to me but who knows. I can't imagine Villa would put this much effort in if they didnt feel there was a chance. He's always impressed me the few times I've seen him play.

My only concern was how high we'd have to go in terms of a bid given he's only got 6 months of PL experience or experience full stop. Bit of a risk but club know what they are doing it seems these days.

Emi had even less experience than that. Look how that turned out.

We need a bloody throw in coach as well! 🤣

Going with the theme we should steal the one Arsenal have now. It's a Swedish guy named  Andreas Georgson who's also been at Brentford. He ticks so many boxes.

There's no way we'd fall for some fake interest to just get him a pay rise.

I imagine that his contract is not looking as good as he wants. So his agent let's it be known that if he can't get a deal at arsenal then he's looking at getting it elsewhere. We make a bid and then force arsenal into a decision.

I believe he would probably prefer to stay at Arsenal with his new deal but if they don't give him what he wants and he refuses to sign it puts arsenal in a tricky situation. Which is where a bid from us adds even more pressure.

This is probably it.

Also, there’s nothing wrong with speculating and trying for players even when the chances of getting them through the door might be slim, comparatively speaking. This is exactly what we should be doing, in fact. If there was “no chance at all” then we wouldn’t have put a bid in the first place.

In the end, we are talking about Emile Smith-Rowe and Arsenal. It’s not as absurd as their fans might make out.

…and Arsenals monumental debt growing.  Which is good for us.

Arteta could be saying to their CEO that they need to keep him and so offer him a good contract. CEO may say that they just can’t afford what he wants unless they unload some high earners, which isn’t easy given what some of their boys are reported to be on.  They’re stalling for time. They could also need the dosh from a sale. They’re in the brown stuff pretty deep by the sound of things.

Glorious, isn’t it? Spurs being the small fecal cherry atop the steaming financial heap of north London football.

They gave Saka big fat contract raise last season from 7k to 33k. ESR allegedly on 20k tops, other sites say less. Arsenal are drowning in debt atm

Wow If Smith Rowe is already earning £20k a week despite only breaking through this season then I can see why Arsenal are in financial trouble. I would have guessed £5k a week MAX for a young player promoted from the youth set up who signed his last contract in 2018.
