This way of thinking confuses me so much. Seriously, there seems to be this idea that football is over this year.

Leeds were in the championship 2 years ago. West Ham barely survived a couple of years ago. Everton have spent millions to build over the last few years. There's always going to be different teams fighting for those top spots. Wolves were there not long back, Southampton have had their moments.

Where has the lack of patience come from? We haven't been a consistent midtable team since MON left. Why don't we try and achieve that before we panic that we'll never achieve anything if we don't spent another £50 million on one player this summer.

completely agree

but you need to redefine "top spots" ;)

Because if you stand still you go backwards. For every season we can't reach the top teams they will be even harder to catch up.

who said that we plan on standing still?

last year we improved the defence, this year we've improved the attack, maybe its next summer that we improve the midfield

not doing it all at once is not the same as standing still

If we finish 11th again on 55 points, why would it be even harder to catch up the following season? I don't understand.

Well that's not true. We were miles off them under Paul Lambert. Since then we've gone massively backwards to the championship and we are now much closer to them.

In between that we got relegated, spent 3 years in the second tier and nearly went into administration. In the meantime the 'big 6' have cemented their position at least in terms of revenue, overseas support, sponsorship and corporate deals. You can't tell me that we are closer to those teams now than in 2010 when Lerner turned the taps off and basically gave up.

This is absolutely correct. Aston Villa were never interested.

Thanks sir. If you can keep us updated on every player we aren't linked to or make a bid for I'd be grateful. 😂

McKennie, yes please. Completely fits the profile we would go after, fits the profile midfielder Dean would go after too (I.e. not the imposing DM we all want) but would be a big improvement over what we have on his day with room to further develop so wouldn't massively limit the chances for our other players.

A lot cheaper than JWP but has potential to be a better all round player. (although would be a shame to not have his dead ball specialism)

I also don't understand.

I feel like I've missed a really important announcement from the Premier league.

Well my point is, you can go backwards and then build again. We are closer to them now than when Paul Lambert became manager and we've gone massively backwards during that time.

Seeing reports to Weston Mckinnie 😬 well i didnt think he was even available and i doubt he would drop down to us, but if we can sign him pay whatever necessary because he's an excellent player

We were definitely after him last summer so no reason he wouldn't still be on our list, much like how we revisited the deal for Buendia after missing out last summer. He also wants to play in the Premier League so I'm sure Lange could probably convince him to join. I'm unsure what he'd cost, but it'd definitely be less than Ward Prowse. I don't see any logical reason why we wouldn't at least try for him, especially as Smith is repeatedly saying in each window that 'if the right deal becomes available we'll pursue it'.

Get this done.
