If they had VAR in the Championship, Huddersfield would be down to 10 men and Stoke would have most likely be winning as they would have also got a penalty. The standard of officials in this country is pathetic. The ref was looking straight at the tackle that should have led to a straight red.

I think it's something entirely different to pathetic. Something not good.

Could have had a goal but for a good save from the Huddersfield keeper, did well to keep hold of the ball before setting up a chance for Vrancic, and for the most part has looked very good in possession. I think it's less that he's struggled to get into the game, and more that Stoke have struggled to get him and their other attackers into the game, too many hit and hope long balls from them, they've been poor, Philogene-Bidace has done well to get a few shots and create a chance.

He hasn't caught the eye, but his passes are very assured and he weights them very nicely through the lines of opposition. Very rarely is he safe when he doesn't have to be. There's probably only Nick Powell who passes at the same level. The other players aren't as crisp or confident when going to feet.

Still seems like he hasn't got full confidence to play his own game yet, and they haven't quite got confidence in him to find him as a first choice option...but that's natural after his short time there.

He seems to have the ball with his back to goal though, making it hard for him to burst forward with his skill. Looks like that's part of the tactic to me.

You can see the talent. The way he paused on the ball for 2 seconds to wait for the runner from midfield. And then a great clean strike which unluckily hit the post.

You can also see the lack of experience. He also held his head in shame for missing for about 3 seconds. Could have missed a follow up.

Having watched this game I’m not sure Stoke were the right loan option for JPB. The way they play doesn’t really suit him imo. Playing 3 at the back like they do means he has to come short to receive the ball, also he doesn’t have any options going beyond him when the balls played into his feet. Would have preferred to him have  gone to a team with a more progressive style and manager.

Stoke's LB is a bit of a peen too. Always back's himself the thread a ball through and just kept giving it away instead of playing it around with JPB. Hopefully that's just until they're familiar.

One thing for sure, as soon as JPB is in the box, he's an absolute facking menace. Great feet and usually results in a chance.
