His shots and finishes today looked like a lad slowly becoming the complete striker.

Want to see more of him attempting rockets from outside the box.

Yeah I’ve often wondered why he doesn’t do that more as he has a decent strike on him and remember him getting a few goals outside the box for Brentford. I think it’s mainly because for us he is usually arriving on the end of things. I don’t remember him refusing that many long shots.

Can you believe Julian Joachim sits there just below Dean Saunders.

Watkins could go down as one of our best strikers of all time.

Julian Joachim scored one of the greatest goals of all time

On Joachim it always amazes me he’s so up on our scorers, I always think of him as some bit part player.

On Watkins, it goes Yorke, Benteke, Ollie for me.

Is that 56 altogether now?

I guess the next big name for him to chase down is Dion Dublin who got 59.

My bad, today's two puts him on 61 - so he's past Dion already.

1 more to match Juan Pablo Angel, 3 more to catch David Platt.

17 goals this season in all comps, means it's his best season for us so far

It's the 17th Feb...

If we stay in the ECL there's every danger he hits 30 goals, if love it if he got the 20 PL goals too

I said near the start of the season that he'll hit 30 goals and 20 assists in all comps and people thought I was smoking crack. Just 12 goals and 10 assists to go now.

Julian Joachim was backup to Yorke and Milosevic 1996-97 but grabbed a nice few goals.

In 97-98, even though we signed Collymore, he seemed to get much more involved, sometimes playing wide.

98-99 he pretty much became first choice and ditto 99-00.

He was a solid player for us and good for a goal.

Ollie for me has the potential to be our best PL era striker if he keeps it up for another 2 seasons!

Said last week I cannot understand the criticism he still gets from villa fans.

In the conversation for our best ever premier league striker. He’s excellent

I agree with you but Ollie isn't flashy or glamorous so is an easy target and isnt sexy enough as a player

Some of the strikers people said are better than him offer nothing near what we get

Has he actually scored outside the box for us yet? Today was close but not quite.

I think he scored one at Anfield from outside the box

I really want Ollie to catch and beat Gabby’s record. I think he will too.

Assuming he doesn’t leave us this summer then I think he’ll do it next season

I think most Villa fans want to see Gobby’s record smashed. Might just bring him down a peg or two.

Yes and couldn't stand him his last 5 seasons but actually enjoy him on Talkshite. Calling out Lee Dixon commentary was great
