Muscle injuries in the PL up 55% compared to this time last season. Can't see how anyone would be surprised by that. This season will be a carnage and if against all odds there is a Euro's next season a lot of the big names will be injured and or exhausted.

Thats the argument for 5 subs - did any team even use all 5 subs last year?

Absolutely- they have the best squad depth in the league yet only want to play their best XIs week in week out - they should make better use of what they’ve got available and manage their players playing time better.

The compromise for 5 subs should be that 2 must be youth team players. They will change the tune quick enough

These highly rated genius coaches rarely trust or develop youth players to increase the squad size

The clubs wanting 5 subs are the big boys playing in European competitions and complaining the extra games are taking their toll on the players, why not allow 4 or 5 subs in European competitions only?
That would be a good compromise from what I can tell and a level playing field in the Premier League.

they will want the 5 subs for mid/late season when European games kick in and they can rotate/sub their multiple 50m+ stars to ensure the lowly scrub teams dont stand a chance of a top 4 (or 6) :).....

Let them have 5 subs in Europe, then they can rest players for the PL at the weekend of the want.

I wouldn't really care if it was just for teams playing in Europe when they play each other, but they clearly shouldn't change the rules mid-season, and it's pretty hard to take seriously in the immediate aftermath of a game in which neither side used their allocation of 3.

They do have 5 subs in Europe. A couple of weeks ago, Jose Mourinho made all 5 subs at half time in the EL.

Ah yes, you’re right. I’d tell them to jog on then. They can take tiring players off mid-week if they are concerned.

Klopp suggested that when the ‘big clubs’ play each other they should be allowed 5 subs for those matches.

Literally just want to play along to their own rules, Liverpool have managed to become even more tedious than I thought imaginable.

Ian Wright was saying the same thing, arguing it has no affect on others.

Well, that is not entirely true. Lets say Man City have 5 subs on Wednesday against Chelsea, rest 2 extra players with 20 minutes to go so that they are fresher for the Sunday fixture against Brighton.

We can't have one set of rules for some teams and other rules for others.

Also, if you are struggling to fill your squad with 2/3 youngsters that you can throw in with 15 minutes to go, maybe, just maybe, you are not the best team in Europe after all.
