Match Thread: Leicester v Villa

Let’s be clear, it was clearly the top of the shoulder. How VAR has looked at it and still given a penalty is comical. But that doesn’t paper over how utterly shit we are, getting worse by the game. Nothing to take from this game at all. I’ve not seen worse than us, even Norwich.

How much did we spend in the summer?

Hull were looking for over £20m for Bowen in the summer, they accepted £20m in Jan because he wanted out. He went for £80K p.w., we are never paying that.

Benrahma wanted the move but Brentford wanted over £20m. We signed El Ghazi for £8m and Trez for £10m.

As ever with villa it’s not the losing it’s the nature of the defeat not even laying a glove on Leicester. This really is as bad as it gets, no intensity no skill no heart. I think we are heading for a well deserved 20th place finish. Also Gilbert and Engels have no business On a premier league pitch

Penalty or not, it was a really stupid way to try to clear the ball which raised the clear risk of being penalised.

Sorry, what?  He cleared the ball with his shoulder.

That's like saying making a ball-winning tackle from the side of a player is a stupid way to tackle.

On this showing and a number of others, we simply don't have the quality for this division - you have to come up with a better core of a squad than we did and then you have to spend the £140m on top of that - the gap between the Championship and the Premier league is becoming enormous.

We're unable to use the ball, we can't get out; unless Grealish beats two men or Davis holds a long ball up we're completely trapped and at this level you can't win games with 20% possession week in and week out.

Sheffield United are the exception to the rule.

Good post even if it was 127 😆

Understand your point.

We could have stayed up if we didn't buy a load of crap though.

£40m on three forwards and started the game with Elmo up front.

VAR bad decision or not, we have only been in the game 8 minutes

Sure.  But if Reina hadn't run out needlessly and the referees hadn't been so utterly wank, we'd still be clinging on for a point.

Isn’t it absolutely laughable Smith changed it after 60 mins. How utterly predictable and lame.

We’ve got a whole host of shit players but Smith is comical with his in game management. It’s been the same way all season. He has no idea what or when to change things when things aren’t going to plan.

Kinda where i'm at.

Same. To be honest I expected relegation when we lost to Southampton first time. Was evident we lacked fight and desire to win football matches.

The players don’t have the talent required for this league - simple as that really.

Damn right.  Should've started with Wesley.

we can all moan about VAR and the penalty but reality is thats a very poor excuse.

Mings gave the ref an option to make a decision.

we have been second best to everything and have not been in the game at all

embarrassing
