To not cave in at 2 down against City and be within a couple of cms of forcing extra time was a great performance. Fans in the stadium were great too, made them shit themselves in the last few minutes, never seen a Pep team just **** booting it into the stands. Hopefully that will be good for the group and we can use it to get some points on the board. They are a truly world class team and we don't have many of them to face in the run in.

City scored with a deflection and a non existent corner and we got denied by Bravo and the post. The 4-4-1-1 is something we should try away from home I reckon, Samatta getting a goal is also a big plus.

UTV, and I'll repeat it in case it got missed in the match thread, all the Smith outers saying we'd get dicked and Smith should quit when we were 2 down should **** off and support Liverpool.

Luiz MotM for me. Most up for it. Lot of our good stuff went through him. Samatta Nakamba Mings Engels Guilbert Nyland all did well. Grealish completely anonymous. Trez and Hourihane nothing footballers in their short appearances

You play against a side who are one of the best in the world and have been pouring oil money into the team for a decade and all you want is a fair match. We both scored 1 fair goal, why do City need help from the refs as well?

I'm confused by the people saying it was a good performance. We barely had a kick, didnt create anything from open play and had Stones not had yet another howler, it could have been 4 or 5.

The scoreline is respectable and its no disgrace to be outplayed by City but it wasnt a "good performance" by Villa at all.

Samatta is a player. Davis looks good enough IMO. 

But I am amazed how this club NEVER can have some luck. From VAR to crossbars to penalties, injuries and what not. Just god damn annoying.

How exactly could it have been 4 or 5 if not for John Stones falling over? I fail to see the correlation.

We had a chance to force extra time against a team full of +£80 million players.

Great effort, tactically just about the best we could have gone about it and the players nearly pulled it off.  Disappointed with the decision for the corner but also our defending for it.  A lick of paint away from extra time when I was expecting the worst before kick off.

We had Man City on the ropes at the end. The formation change suited us. It should tell those players we have enough to compete and stay in this league!
