I agree with that. It wasn’t a corner but he to was trying to be too clever marshalling the ball. He also doesn’t close down quick enough either.

It's wasn't a corner, just unlucky with the ref with lots of decisions that tilt the game, seen it with Lille as well.

Doug great in possession and further up front, he more influence on the game when he pushed forward more. At times he was behind Konsa showing for the ball, he needs to push up more and offer an outlet for the defenders to pass to or at least compete for the knocks downs, lose balls. The problem is if the opposition play a highline and our defenders push up the whole playing area gets compressed and that leaves Doug and McGinn with no space to operate in without being harassed by the opposition, passes go astray and players lose possession.

Can say he played poor or constructively criticise, but people called him a bottler for missing a penalty and others called him embarrassing

People react differently, some people get angry/happy/upset quickly, some don't, if someone feels he bottled it then so be it, thats their view of the situation.

We lost a match through a combination of their decent attacking play, our poor defensive and midfield play and a sprinkle of terrible officiating.

Certain poor performances get highlighted.

I'm sure mo Salah on scouse forums isn't getting praise recently so it's not exactly fickle,  it's people saying what they see.

for the corner in the first place? was thinking about that this morning, was about 5 things he could have done and he did the worst one, didn't see a replay of it though despite him moaning about the corner so im guessing it was the right decision

It absolutely was a corner. It was right in front of me. It very obviously came off him and he had loads of time to clear it but he just let it roll out.

I don’t know what he was thinking

It didn’t feel like it at the time but the best thing he has done recently was getting the 2nd booking against Brentford.

Fans criticising versus fans who don't like people criticising. The endless dance. Luiz was poor last night and he's been poor for a few games now. He was great before that but he's currently a liability. Deal with it. Hopefully he can improve his form immediately, beacuse we're down to bare bones and there's no reason he can't become one of the most important players in the line-up again. I sure hope he does.

Massive over reaction on your part, yeah let’s send all fans who have a different opinion to yours to a prison camp, pathetic!

Had a stinker before the penalty and without the handball. He still has the quality you see him chest it down under pressure but something was missing. Drive, stamina, confidence, burnt out? I don’t know but he’s not on it at the moment.

That North Korean “Three Generations of punishment” treatment should be reserved for last nights ref

I think it's a perfectly good idea, getting rid of the turncoats and cry babies. Those with short memories who turn on those that have given a lot for this team to be where it currently is. Absolutely fantastic idea!

Kamara being injured has proven to be a big problem for us, as he was the only specialist DM we have, and as such without him Luiz isn't able to fully focus on playing as he was previous to Kamara's injury. I thought it was a strage decision to let Dendoncker go without a replacement, Iroegbunam isn't that replacement as he's a completely different type of midfielder. When we bring in a new DM, I'm sure we will start seeing the best of Douglas Luiz again, or whoever is playing in midfield. I also think we miss Jacob Ramsey more than is sometimes realized, not just for his attacking play, but for the general midfield work he gets through helping out up and down that left hand side, with Ramsey and Kamara, in the team especially kamara, the we see a better Luiz. It's not just Luiz it affects but also McGinn, as without a specialist DM, he also sometimes has to have a different role, so Kamara being out has cumulative effect all over the pitch

Poor performance, haven’t been too many of those from Dougie…. but… form is temporary, class is permanent and he has it in abundance.

He will return and hopefully fired up to perform and overcome what is quite a big challenge for him now… and I back him to overcome it and become even better.

I’m not going to lose faith in and turn on the players that are a massive part of our success and progress so far…

This 100%. I have heard some call his performance 'shameful'.....really?? He was poor, much like many others but lets keep some balance here. The guy has won us plenty of games this season and is having a run of poor form. Some people have very short memories.

We shouldn't be turning on him, he's been brilliant for most of the season, but we can feel really p*ssed off with how he performed last night and in recent weeks.

When we needed him to turn up the most, he not only went missing but contrived to give away a penalty then when he had a chance to make up for him by scoring a pressure penalty he couldn't hold his nerve.

He wasn't the only player off it last night, but let's not pretend he didn't cost us the game. If he doesn't give away the penalty foolishly and if he sticks away that penalty we at least get a draw from the game.

Dougie's been off form and/or lacking something for a couple of months now, and I'd even say our better performances came without him in the side (when he was suspended), however putting a missed penalty on him is really harsh. Had he even missed one for us before yet? It happens.

This is where I'm at. The fact is, his form has dropped when we've needed him most. Are there mitigating factors sure, he's technically playing out of position, he's shagging daily if you believe some, he's played a lot of football this season. None of that changes the fact that he's got a job to do out there, and he's not been doing it very well lately.

There's criticism and there's criticism. I thought he was truly shocking last night and he looked like he wasn't up for it at all from the very get go. I've said elsewhere he's not been great for a long time now and doesn't deserve player of the season as a result. It's up to him now to prove the critics wrong and finish the season strongly. Only he can fix that.

I appreciate the correction I can only base it on what I saw on screen but I’m always happy to be corrected

Agree still. It’s so frustrating that experienced top level players still make such basic errors

Is he off? I mean these deals are usually done by now and a player knows where they are going subject to the money and other bits being finalised.
